I love visiting the Australian National Botanic Gardens for various reasons, and the first and the prime is that I support the local primary school at Garran CBD of Canberra, and the second is that it's close to our house, and third and foremost, the lower slopes of Black Mountain in Canberra is the most rocking place. The children love the different attractions, which not only inspire them but also help them learn about reptiles and other animals.

This botanical garden is big, with over 1.2 million specimens, and it takes a long time to cover all its sections, so I will show you a small part of this garden, especially the children's recreation area, the tree house, the herbarium specimens, and the snake section. The snake museum is one of the main attractions of the Australian National Botanic Gardens, where we happened to be on a Sunday in February 2024 for a wonderful trip with kids from our locality. I am trying to show you a variety of Australian reptiles and amphibians, many of which are now on the list of "threatened" or what we know as endangered species. As you might know, Australia is known for snakes, lizards, and other animals in the reptile category, but the ones shown here are rarely seen in the forest, so watching them in captivity is a wonderful experience. ![IMG_20190120_105039.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmd6Sgzyjeqir8KuQPfGW34fMkAGRJfWrfPTwB39k8XRBY/IMG_20190120_105039.jpg) I love going there as often as possible, as the children not only enjoy playing with them but also receive an educational experience with an opportunity to touch such animals and learn from the expert volunteers, who are truly supportive. You start getting a strange feeling as soon as you enter the center, where these animals are kept in different glass storage, and the volunteers display them and even let children hold them in a safe way. By the way, the entire center is air-conditioned and custom-made for these animals so that they adjust in all weathers.

Children visiting this center sponsored by the Australian Capital Territory Hematological Unit thoroughly enjoy the trip as they find a number of other attractions around this reptile center. The other attraction for children in the National Botanic Gardens is the tree house, which is entirely different from tree houses in public parks in this area. Incidentally, this tree house is not an ordinary one but a delight for children who experience the wonderful ideas while climbing and sliding constantly. For me, the Treehouse story is different, as I don't see such trees back in India. I love watching children climb and feel great when some of them want me to accompany them.

Then we have a number of clay and stone-made animals around here, which are another attraction for visiting children. The specialty of these animals is that each of them has a display card that tells the children about the details so they learn all about that animal. There is an entry charge of AU$9 per adult and AU$7 for children, but if you're in a group, they offer a discount depending on the number of visitors. The ticket seems to be on the bit higher side, but the funds thus raised help raise the reptiles even if the volunteers charge nothing for their services, but they do it for breeding programs, education, training, and research projects for the future generation. Let me admit that not only children but we, the older generation, learn a lot every time we visit this center.
