I should have guessed it was going to fail. I saw some of the 'shaky' signs but just had to test it. The piece was too big to withstand the vibration of the printer on the desk (I suppose). One issue that I noticed was how small the 'base' of the project was - more 'temporary' support was needed there as the printer was having to print separately each part of the circle. In the constant 'a little bit here' and 'a little bit there', it knocked it off. Once you commit to print a project there isn't much one can do to interrupt the process. It was her way of 'humanising' the device when it was giving problems. The project I was actually trying to make was a special type of ancient 'cloak pin' or [Penannular Brooch](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtic_brooch) which was used by the Celts to fasten garments here in the UK. You can find a few examples of this type of pin on Thingverse. The project I chose had 3 makes which means that theoretically other people have made it. Here is a link to the [project](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2418257/makes). I have been intrigued by the closure mechanism of these pins for a while so I wanted to see one in action. Here is what I mean:

I was curious to see how the 3-D printer was going to cope with this closure mechanism. One thing I noticed of course was the big size of the project, perhaps if I re-scale it and make it smaller, it will be successful. I also found a [different design](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3303992) on thingverse but it requires printing different parts. I will have to see how to rescale the project and try it again.
