## Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series. # #### Exodus 7:14-18 #

We are working our way through the plagues that fell upon the ruler of Mitsraim (Egypt). We saw a staff turned serpent last week and now we read that The Almighty is instructing Moshe (Moses) on what to do the next morning. They were to go and see Far'oh (Pharaoh) in the morning while he is near the water. God says that his heart is hard, but they still need to go. Moshe will tell him the same message as before, that is, "Let my people go that they may serve me in the wilderness." Then they will do another feat and strike the water of the Nile. The passage speaks of how it would turn to blood, the fish will die, and the river will stink and the people will drink from in and *not be happy about it* to say the least. This passage covers God's instructions as to the next steps of the plan today. Later, the scriptures will recount what actually happened that day. I have a feeling it is so wordy simply because Moshe keeps losing faith in his ability to do such things. God is telling him, before hand, that his request will be denied and that all of this is for a reason. So that Far'oh will know that He is YHVH in the same way that He has humbled many rulers throughout the centuries. ### Today's reading # #### *English* # Then the Lord said to Moses, "Pharaoh's heart is hardened; he refuses to let the people go. Go to Pharaoh in the morning, as he is going out to the water. Stand on the bank of the Nile to meet him, and take in your hand the staff that turned into a serpent. And you shall say to him, 'The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, sent me to you, saying, "Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness." But so far, you have not obeyed. Thus says the Lord, "By this you shall know that I am the Lord: behold, with the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water that is in the Nile, and it shall turn into blood.
