Bahkan, kata dia, jalan di Peunayong yang menggunakan nama Tgk Muhammad Dawood juga tidak menggunakan nama sultan. "Seharusya pemerintah mengubah nama itu menjadi nama Sultan Muham mad Dawood Syah,"katanya. Salah satu jasa Sultan Alaidin Muhammad Daud Syah adalah tak menyerahkan kedaulatan Aceh kepada Belanda, sehingga satu-satunya wilayah Nusantara yang tak pernah takluk ke Belanda saat itu adalah Aceh. Dalam Konferensi Meja Bundar di Den Hag, Belanda, pada 1949, Inggris menanyakan mana kawasan yang diklaim Indonesia yang masih bebas dari penaklukan Belanda? Tersebutlah Aceh. "Semua peserta konferensi setuju dan mengakui Indonesia menjadi sebuah ne- gara merdeka," kata Djamal. Sultan Alaidin Muhammad Dawod Syah merupakan putra Tuanku Cut Zainal Abidin. Ia cucu dari Sultan Alaidin Mansur Syah (1857-1870), raja ke-33 yang memimpin Kerajaan Aceh Darussalam. "Nama lain yang layak adalah dinobatkan pahlawan adalah Tuanku Hasyem Banta Muda.
