Las palabras que han aparecido en las dos últimas semanas me han generado mucho impacto, pues de alguna manera están relacionadas con mi pasado, con la historia con mi padre. En especial la palabra correspondiente a esta semana: “DUDA” así en singular; y luego como verbo convertida en acción: “DUDAR”.

Si hay algo algo que recuerdo gratamente, son algunas conversaciones, que sostuve con mi padre, siendo yo un niño entre los 10 y lo 12 años, en las que de alguna manera terminaba haciéndole compañía a papá, mientras este bebía su alcohol. (Claro, yo no bebía). Papá se ponía en modo "reflexivo-filosófico" haciéndome preguntas muy grandes para mi mente de niño, que me hacían dudar de las cosas en las que creía.

Una de estas preguntas, que recuerdo con claridad, era: ¿Se ama con el corazón o con el cerebro?, papá argumentaba, (sin llegar a convencerme totalmente, pero si sembrando la duda) que los seres humanos amamos con el cerebro y no con el corazón, tal y como yo habíamos aprendido.

En otra oportunidad, ya tarde en la noche, papá en modo más cercano, me dio un consejo; — que como dije al inicio forjó mi personalidad —. Él me dijo: "José, duda de todo". Y con esa semilla, sembrada y abonada por papá, en un contexto que me hacía muy difícil de creerle (¿pues quien le cree a un borracho?), fui construyendo el escepticismo como una de mis actitudes más arraigadas.

Por un lado, eso fue grandioso, papá me dio impulso a no creerme las cosas simplemente porque otro las dijera, o porque tuviese autoridad. Él me llevó a creer que Yo tenía-(o tengo) que convencerme por mí mismo de las cosas.

Pero desde otro punto de vista, al convertirme en un escéptico y dudar de todo, me puso muy cerca del relativismo y el pragmatismo, pues creo que aún los valores que tengo pueden cambiarse. Esto en mis relaciones no resultó muy bueno aplicar. Menos aún, dudar de Dios y lo que me han enseñado que él ha dicho.

Lo peligroso de la duda, —de dudar —, es que es (al menos para mí) es un sendero que fácilmente me lleva a vacilar cuando estoy frente a algo, luego a entrar en incertidumbre, — “pues nunca se puede estar seguro de nada” —, (si leen bien pueden darse cuenta de lo paradójico de esa declaración que tengo como principio.)

Y si sigo dudando, llegó fácilmente a la indecisión y unos pasos más allá, a la desconfianza, a la inseguridad (¿de mi mismo?) y a la parálisis. Este camino pedregoso fue algo que también le “compré a mi papá”. Dudar o no Dudar, he ahí el dilema, parafraseando a un inglés famoso.

Ahora, Imagínense que interesante sería que las siguientes palabras de estos desafíos, fuesen; “FE” o “certidumbre”. Nos estamos leyendo amigos de Dream Steem.

| You will doubt everything, my dad told me.

The words that have appeared in the last two weeks have generated a lot of impact on me, because in some way they are related to my past, to the history with my father. Especially the word corresponding to this week: “DOUBT” in the singular; and then as a verb converted into action: “DOUBT”.

If there is something that I remember pleasantly, it is some conversations that I had with my father, when I was a child between 10 and 12 years old, in which I somehow ended up keeping dad company, while he drank his alcohol. (Of course, I didn't drink). Dad would go into "reflective-philosophical" mode, asking me questions that were very big for my child's mind, which made me doubt the things he believed in.

One of these questions, which I remember clearly, was: Do you love with the heart or with the brain? Dad argued, (without completely convincing me, but sowing doubt) that human beings love with the brain and not with the heart, just as I had learned.

On another occasion, late at night, Dad, in a more personal way, gave me some advice; —which, as I said at the beginning, forged my personality—. He told me: "José, doubt everything." And with that seed, sown and fertilized by dad, in a context that made it very difficult for me to believe him (well, who believes a drunk?), I began to build skepticism as one of my most deeply rooted attitudes.

On the one hand, that was great, Dad encouraged me not to believe things simply because someone else said them, or because they had authority. He led me to believe that I had-(or have) to convince myself of things.

But from another point of view, by becoming a skeptic and doubting everything, it put me very close to relativism and pragmatism, because I believe that even the values I have can be changed. This was not very good to apply in my relationships. Even less, doubt God and what I have been taught that he has said

The dangerous thing about doubt, —of doubting—, is that it is (at least for me) a path that easily leads me to hesitate when I am faced with something, then to enter into uncertainty, — “because you can never be sure of nothing” —, (if you read well you can realize the paradox of that statement that I have as a beginning.)

And if I continue to doubt, it easily led to indecision and a few steps further, to distrust, insecurity (of myself?) and paralysis. This rocky road was something I also “bought from my dad.” To doubt or not to doubt, that is the dilemma, to paraphrase a famous Englishman.

Now, imagine how interesting it would be if the next words of these challenges were; “FAITH” or “certainty”. We are reading friends of Dream Steem
