Welcome everyone, to season 3 of the steemit engagement contest. We are currently in the first week of the engagement challenge and I'm happy to participate in the academy contest for this week which talks about the Metaverse.

**** Define your understanding of the Metaverse. What has the Metaverse aimed to achieve? Is Metaverse here fully with us yet? ****

Metaverse is a new technology which deals with the conversion of reality into virtual via the use of a computer. It is the conversion of the 2D display into 3D. The Metaverse talks about performing every form of activity which we do in real life in the virtual world. In the Metaverse, you can perform all activities like shopping, meeting etc.

As I have stated above, Metaverse is a technology which has to do with the virtual representation of the real world on the computer or virtual. Everyone will be able to perform the same activities he does in real life in the virtual world because they will be represented by an avatar. This is a unique object that represents them once they are in the virtual world. This avatar can attend meetings, go shopping etc.

Metaverse as at the time of writing this article is normally seen clearly or better understood with the use of a virtual headset. When using the virtual headset you will be able to access the virtual world and see everything in real life in the virtual world.

Currently, the Metaverse technology is still upcoming but Facebook has started working hard to have it integrated into its platform. We know that the current tech we are familiar with is a 2D tech but the Metaverse is ushering us into the use of 3D tech.

What has the Metaverse aimed to achieve?

Without any iota of doubt, I must say that the major aim of Metaverse is to bring people closer to each other and also enable them to perform all the major activities which ordinarily may be impossible for them to perform in the real world.

Is Metaverse here fully with us yet?

Metaverse is not fully here with us and the reason I said this is because a lot are not yet aware of the technology. We can only say it is here fully when at least about half of the world's population has an idea about it. So for now based on the technicality associated with the technology many are not aware of it.

**** State the technologies that can be utilized to achieve Security, Ownership, and others in the Metaverse. In your own words, how are the technologies going to be utilized to achieve security and ownership? (Include any components of the technologies that would be of great advantage to the development of Metaverse). ****

The technologies that can help in achieving security and ownership in Metaverse are Virtual reality, blockchain etc.

Virtual Reality (VR)

This is a generated environment from the computer which is a complete replicate of the real world in the computer. When anyone uses the virtual headset, he will completely see himself in the world generated by the computer and then he can perform all activities as if he is in the real world because he is represented by his avatar.

Blockchain

We are aware that the blockchain is a distributed ledger used to store data of transactions in an immutable way. This can be used in the metaverse because one can easily perform all transactions and also this transaction must be authenticated. Blockchain technology is needed in the metaverse for the security of the metaverse technology.

**** Do we have any Gamification developments that look like the Metaverse? Discuss any two protocols and how they work. ****

The two gamification development I want to discuss in this section is Axie Infinity and Decentraland.

Axie Infinity

Axie Infinity is a play-to-earn game that is built on the ethereum blockchain. In this game, players get their cuties and then battle with other cuties and anyone who wins earns some reward in the form of cryptocurrency. The crypto earned via their success in the battle between other cuties can be easily exchanged in an exchange market.

Decentraland

The decentraland is another gamification in which people can buy and own an asset such as a plot of land and houses in the virtual world. This asset can be rented or sold to other persons who may need it for their as well. Once you buy this asset, you become the complete owner of the space. The MANA token is the token used to perform transaction activities in the entire platform.

**** What are the Pros and Cons of Metaverse? Do you believe in the future of the Metaverse? Discuss. **** Pros or Advantages Of Metaverse

a- Metaverse brings people closer thereby making life easier.

b- Business moves better because the bridge of communication is broken.

c- Learning is made easier because of the advancement in Metaverse technology.

Cons Of Metaverse

a- Addiction is one of the major disadvantages of the Metaverse.

b- Metaverse technology is also very expensive to run. So the cost of running the technology is very high.

c- Network issues are another problem associated with the metaverse because there is always a network problem in every part of the world.

Do you believe in the future of the Metaverse? Discuss.

Yes, I believe in the future of the Metaverse project. The reason is that currently, we have seen a virtual headset where we can access the virtual world but due to a little limitation in technology, we have not seen it fully in action but am certain that the limitation is been worked on and with time it will be sorted completely.

Metaverse is the upcoming technology which will hit the world in a very special way sooner or later. I believe that the world will be a better place once this technology is completely adopted by everyone.
