Si utilizas Telegram y estás en un grupo de amigos donde uno de los temas en común son las criptomonedas, las inversiones, el Forex y la economía en general, de seguro habrás recibido mensajes privados de individuos que te ofrecen ofertas de inversiones demasiado atractivas y con promesas de jugosas ganancias en plataformas desconocidas. Estos mensajes los envían desde perfiles aparentemente reales, es decir, con fotografías de personas de carne y hueso, personas que conoces ; mensajes con las que ganan tu confianza, porque sabes que esa persona no te mentiría... A menos que seas como aquellos que hacen caso a su instinto, verifican si ese número desde el cual se contactaron es el mismo y si esa información es real.

If you use Telegram and you're in a group of friends where one of the topics are criptocurrencies, investments, Forex and general economics, surely you'll have received private messages from individuals that offer you too attractive investment offers and with promises of juicy profits on unknown platforms. These messages were send from seemingly real profiles; that is, with pictures of real people. People to whom you know; messages with which they earn your trust, because you know that that person wouldn't lie to you ... Unless you're like those who pay attention to their instinct, verify if that number from which they were contacted is the same and if that information is real.

De otro modo, si le haces caso a esa persona e inviertes tu dinero en esas plataformas, entonces la amistad y la confianza de ambas partes se verán dañadas, y el estafador se habrá reído en tu cara y habrá bloqueado tu número para evitar reclamaciones.

In other way, if you pay attention to that person and invest your money on those platforms, then the friendship and confidence of both parties will be damaged, and the scammer will have laughed on your face and blocked your number to avoid claims.

En mi experiencia, estuve cerca de caer en una estafa; un tipo se hizo pasar por un amigo mío y me presentó lo que él llamaba "una vaca de inversión". Por fortuna, noté que la aplicación marcaba el número en cuestión como desconocido; lo que hice fue preguntarle a mi amigo directamente por WhatsApp sobre ese asunto para salirme de dudas.

In my experience, I came close to falling for a scam; a guy posed as a friend of mine and introduced me to what he called "an investment cow". Fortunately, I noticed that the application marked the number in question as unknown; what I did was to ask my friend directly on WhatsApp about that matter to get rid of doubts.

Dicho y hecho: NO ERA ÉL.

Said and done: HE WASN'T HIM

El tío en cuestión usó la foto y el nombre para acercarse a mí y a otros dos amigos con tal de pedir dinero para su "vaca". Y como a mi amigo le sucedió, quién sabe si a mí también me suplantaron.

The dude in question used my friend's photo and name to approach me and two other friends in order to ask us for money for his "cow". And as it happened to my friend, who knows if they also impersonated me.

Pero ahí no acaba la cosa: En estas últimas semanas, esa gente ha estado entrando al grupo de amigos, posiblemente suplantando a otras personas. Estuvieron promoviendo "páginas para adultos" tipo Only Fans y "plataformas de inversión". A algunos hasta los han contactado por privado, ofreciendo los servicios de su "plataforma de operaciones binarias" o sus "fotos privadas".

But the thing doesn't end there: In recent weeks, these people have been entering the group, possibly impersonating another people. They were who are promoting "adult pages" type Only Fans, and "investment platforms". Some have even been contacted privately, offering the services of their "binary trading platform" or their "private photos".

Los ciberdelincuentes sin duda se están volviendo cada vez más ingeniosos, pero nosotros podemos ser más listos que ellos; basta con desconfiar del mensaje que te envía fulano (aunque sea tu "amigo") y recurrir a esta persona para verificar la información. De lo contrario, te llevan al baile y no vuelves a saber ni del delincuente, ni de tu dinero, o peor, ni de tu propia identidad.

Cybercriminals are certainly getting more and more resourceful, but we can outsmart them; it's enough with distrusting the message sent by so and so (even if it's your "friend") and turn to this person to verify the information. Otherwise, they take you to the dance and you never hear again from the offender, or your money, or worse, or your own identity.
