My oldest child is really into the LEGO Friends since she was around 5 or so, and each year she has gotten something nice from her grandparents or us, which means that she has quite a large collection of sets (not pictured here are a couple of larger kits that were dismantled in a recent MUM-pocalypse). So, we have to rebuild the larger sets... there is a plane, a house and a boat that need rebuilding from scratch (we saved the manuals...) from the huge bucket of parts that were all thrown together. Luckily, I have a month of enforced vacation from work (no musicians are working these days...)... so, I will have ample free time to build LEGO and find new ways to keep afloat finacially! Anyway, I have convinced her that we don't really need to follow the manuals completely to the letter. I'm trying to get her to be more comfortable with just free-building and following her imagination. It's a bit hard, as she wants to follow the manuals and build what is there... and she hates it when it doesn't come out exactly right. But baby steps...
