The Beginning

This was the first business of my grandfather. He started it around 30 years ago. Then, he passed this beautiful gift to my father. My father expanded this business and invested in many things, including food businesses and expanding the current grocery store. This business is very challenging because you have to learn how to attract customers and even how to sell your products.

A Journey of Growth

Under my father and uncle's leadership, our business flied in air, and became very popular. My uncle and father invested in new things, including food businesses and the expansion of our grocery store. Maintaining and running the business is not easy. You have to compete with other stores and engage with customers to understand their demands. My father mastered the art of attracting customers and selling products. It's not only about selling a product.

The profit margin in grocery stores really depends on the type of store (e.g., supermarket, convenience store). However, in general, the profit margin is very low compared to other retail stores because grocery stores contain items used in our daily lives. This is the reason behind the low profit margin, which typically ranges from 1% to 3%. It also depends on the product. Some products have a slightly higher profit margin than others. For example, on products like ice cream, the profit margin is around 10% to 15%. The reason for this higher profit margin is that companies understand that store owners have to cover expenses such as electricity bills and other overhead costs.

Types of the grocery stores

1. **Online Grocery Stores:** The profit margin of online grocery stores really depends on their expenses. The higher their expenses, the higher their profit will be. Some online grocery stores have profit margins equal to those of superstores. Note: Online grocery stores and superstores both have similar expenses; there might be a slight difference, but not significant. 2. **Supermarkets:** Supermarkets are larger stores that provide a wide variety of food and household products. They offer both local and branded products based on customer demand. Some supermarkets also have online stores. Similarly, the more expenses they have, the higher their profit margin will be. 3. **Discount or Value Stores:** Discount or value stores offer low prices to small shops.
