As the holidays had just begun, I was excited to spend quality time with my son and the other kids in the neighborhood. Being a teacher, I loved organizing fun and educational activities for them. But today, I had something special planned - cooking boiled cassava with native sauce, and sharing it with the kids.

I woke up early, feeling energized and enthusiastic. My 3 years old son was already up and about, eager to start the day. "Mummy carry me" he asked, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Today, don't expect me to be carrying you around because I want to cook something special," I replied, "and then we'll have a fun lesson with the other kids."

We headed to the kitchen, where I had already prepared the cassava and ingredients for the native sauce. My son was following me the kitchen, he keep asking questions as he is learning to speak. He wants to know every bit of what I was doing, while I explained to him the steps I took to prepare food stuffs in the kitchen.

As I cooked, the aroma of the native sauce filled the air, and the kids from the neighborhood started to gather at our doorstep. "Mummy Princewill, can we help?" they chimed in unison.

I smiled, happy to have them involved. "of course, kids! Today, we're not just cooking, we're also going to learn about alphabets and dictions."

The kids cheered, and we began our impromptu lesson. We learned spellings, two, three and four letters words, and learned about oral pronunciations and dictions. My son and the other kids were fully engaged, asking questions and making observations.

As we finished cooking, the boiled cassava with native sauce was ready. We gathered around the table, and I served each child a generous portion. The room fell silent as they took their first bites, savoring the delicious flavors. "Mmm, Mummy, this is so yummy!" my son exclaimed.

The other kids nodded in agreement, their faces lighting up with joy. We spent the rest of the afternoon eating, laughing, and learning together.

As the day drew to a close, I reflected on the importance of spending quality time with children. As a teacher, I knew that learning wasn't limited to the classroom. Moments like these, where we combined fun and education, were invaluable.

As I hugged my son and the other kids goodbye, I knew that this holiday would be one to remember. And as I looked forward to our next adventure together, I smiled, knowing that the joy of learning to sharing would continue to bring us closer together.
