Sleep is essential to our bodies. Therefore, I always go to bed about 10:30 p.m. I sleep till 6:30 a.m. if there isn't a special requirement. As a senior adult, I require seven to nine hours of sleep each night. I believe that eight hours of sleep is more than sufficient for my age. As I get sound sleep, when I wake up in the morning, I feel really refreshed. --- #### Do you follow any sleep routine (like reading, meditation, avoiding screens)? ---

Yes, of course, I am following a meditation habit. I know that if we can meditate at any time convenient to us, that will benefit our physical and mental health. Therefore, I do that at bedtime. It is a very simple meditation. I sit on the bed, straightening my backbone, and exhale and inhale the breath mindfully for about 15 minutes every day. This is called Anapana Sati Bhavanava. I am only focused on breathing. Because of meditation, my mind becomes relaxed, and I fall asleep quickly. This also helps me get deep sleep. As I know, using a mobile phone before sleeping is harmful to our minds, so I switch it off half an hour before going to sleep. ### What disturbs your sleep the most? (noise, stress, mobile, late-night eating, etc.) ---- Nothing can disturb my sleep because I am getting deep sleep every night. I am going to bed with a relaxed mind because of meditation. Therefore, I get deep sleep. So, any noise can't wake me up. For the night, I usually get a light diet; therefore, last night's eating does not affect my sleep. I turn off my mobile phone when I go to bed. So, my mobile can't disturb my sleep. But if I am sick, pain or discomfort can disturb my sleep. Last month, I had to face such a problem. I have shoulder and neck pain due to a tissue tear in my shoulder. That day, the whole night I was awake due to the pain and discomfort. But, apart from my illness, I am very grateful for how well I can sleep every night. #### Tell us about the negative impacts of not getting enough sleep and the positive impacts of getting enough sleep on our health. ---

We all know that getting adequate sleep is critical to both our mental and physical well-being. When we don't get enough sleep, we wake up with exhausted and lifeless feelings. Due to this lifelessness, we can't focus on our duty well. And also due to a lack of sleep, our bodies become weak, and this will make it too difficult to fight against illness. If we face this problem long-term, it can lead to serious health problems like high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes.

A sound sleep helps us recharge the parts of our bodies. During our sleep, our blood circulation improves, which helps to improve brain performance, mood, and health. Due to the sound sleep, our immune system is strengthened, which helps to fight against any illness well. Enough sleep is essential for children's and youth's growth and development.
