Una de las mejores experiencias en la comunidad [**World of Xpilar**](https://steemit.com/trending/hive-185836) son las invitaciones constantes a la creatividad, la participación y las relaciones de amistad entre los autores. Para mí ha sido siempre un gran placer y también un reto crear historias a partir de las asombrosas imágenes digitales diseñadas por @Xpilar para echar a volar la imaginación de los miembros de la comunidad. La playa de los abuelos

Me viene esta sensación incómoda mientras estoy en mi cama, el sudor se va acumulando hasta que me despierta con un poco de sofoco, pero de inmediato me refresca una brisa húmeda que entra por la ventana abierta. No entiendo lo que pasa pues al acostarme estábamos en uno de las noches más heladas que nos ha traído el invierno. Los vecinos peleaban y sus insultos cotidianos reverberaban a través de nuestra pared común mientras me iba quedando dormido. >I get this uncomfortable feeling as I lie in my bed, the sweat builds up until I wake up with a bit of a hot flash, but I'm immediately refreshed by a damp breeze coming in through the open window. I don't understand what is happening because when I went to bed we were in one of the coldest nights that winter has brought. The neighbors were fighting and their daily insults reverberated through our common wall as I drifted off to sleep. Me despego las sábanas para levantarme, la luz es intensa a través de las cortinas que ondulan dejando entrar junto con la brisa, cantos de aves que me parecen gaviotas y pelícanos. Voy a la ventana y me encuentro casi sin aire al ver el paisaje, no entiendo a dónde se fueron los edificios, las avenidas, los automóviles, los puestos de comida, los paraderos del transporte público que estaban frente a mi departamento. Estoy ante un lugar que recuerdo muy bien, esas palmeras me hacen reconocer la playa donde vivían mis abuelos. >I peel back the sheets to get up, the light is intense through the billowing curtains letting in with the breeze, birdsongs that seem to me like seagulls and pelicans. I go to the window and I find myself almost out of breath when I see the landscape, I don't understand where the buildings, the avenues, the cars, the food stands, the public transportation stations that were in front of my apartment have gone. I'm in front of a place I remember very well, those palmtrees make me remember the beach where my grandparents lived. Me tallo los ojos con fuerza, más que para aclarar la visión, para comprobar si estoy dormido o despierto, los abro y veo las figuras de mis abuelos tomados de la mano, un tanto más delgados y pálidos de cómo los recordaba. Ven aquí, muchacho. —Me dice mi abuela— Tienes que aprovechar este sol maravilloso. Inmediatamente comienzan a brotarme las lágrimas, aunque el corazón me palpita vuelvo a tallarme los ojos para poder creer lo que estoy mirando. >I rub my eyes hard, more than to clear my vision, to check if I'm asleep or awake, I open them and I see the figures of my grandparents holding hands, a little thinner and paler than I remember them. Come here, boy. —Says my grandma— You have to take advantage of this wonderful sunshine. Immediately my tears begin to flow, although my heart is pounding, I whittle my eyes again to believe what I'm looking at. —Tus padres te están esperando en la arena, trajeron tus herramientas para hacer pozos, túneles y castillos—. Me dice mi abuelo sonriendo, emocionado. Estoy tratando de recordar hace cuánto que murieron, no mis abuelos, a quienes vi por última vez siendo aún muy pequeño, sino mis padres, a quienes no llegaron a conocer mis hijos. Pienso que yo mismo aún no conozco a alguno de mis propios nietos. >—Your parents are waiting for you in the sand, they brought your tools to make wells, tunnels and castles. My grandfather tells me smiling, excited. I'm trying to remember how long ago they died, not my grandparents, whom I saw for the last time when I was still very young, but my parents, whom my children never knew. I think me myself have yet to meet some of my own grandchildren. Me doy cuenta de que ya no estoy en mi departamento, sino caminando en la playa con mis abuelos, soy un niño nuevamente. A lo lejos veo a mi madre remojando los pies entre el oleaje, mi padre juntando montones de arena húmeda en una pequeña cubeta de colores. Comienzo a correr alegre hacia su abrazo. >I realize that I'm no longer in my apartment, but walking on the beach with my grandparents, I'm a child again. In the distance I see my mother soaking her feet in the surf, my father gathering piles of wet sand in a small colorful bucket. I start running happily to embrace them.
