The Rugrats were a popular cartoon for Nickelodeon that began airing in mid to late 1991 (!) and ended around that same time in 2004. Talk about longevity for a cartoon. The episodes told the adventures of toddlers in diapers facing various challenges in their day to day lives (heavy use of imagination was involved). In Indonesia, slapstick comedy stands out as its own form of entertainment, especially for the lower middle class. The reason, of course, is because this type of comedy entertains in light and quirky ways. Scenes of stumbling, falling, misspeaking, and even fake quarrels are all part of the appeal. Back in the 2010s, shows like this were heavily aired on national television channels, especially during Ramadan to entertain the public.
