Monday, it's almost midnight. Due to some distractions, on Sunday I didn't post the day's record, and on Saturday (with the power failures) I just posted a short note to let us know that we were still alive on this side of the screen. Already today I hope to do better and that the post is in the format I used to use, where I comment on how my day was in things of personal #life, and I share some comments about one of the ephemeris of the #History of the day. To go ahead, entry notice that today is celebrated the day of an oriental Martial Art, native to #Korea (1955), but which reached its internationalization from the creation of its International Federation in #Canada (March 22, 1966), the country where its creator lived after being exiled for political reasons, in short, today is 'International Taekwondo Day'.

Lunes, ya es casi media noche. Debido a unas distracciones, el día domingo no publiqué el registro del día, y el sábado (con las fallas eléctricas) apenas publiqué una nota breve para avisar que seguíamos vivos de este lado de la pantalla. Ya hoy espero hacerlo mejor y que el post sea con el formato que solía usar, en donde comento como fue mi día en cosas de #vida personal, y comparto algunos comentarios sobre una de las efemérides de la #Historia del día. Para ir adelantando, aviso de entrada que hoy se celebra el día de un Arte Marcial oriental, nativo de #Corea (1955), pero que alcanzó su internacionalización a partir de la creación de su Federación Internacional en #Canada (22 de marzo de 1966), país donde vivió su creador luego de ser exiliado por cuestiones políticas, en resumen, hoy es el ‘Día Internacional del Taekwondo’.

Anyway, it wasn't a bad day, but I haven't been with all the energy, let's hope that that changes and the work week that begins is good.

Let's go back to the #MartialArt anniversary, it is a matter that corresponds more to the world of #sports, something that it shares with all individual #combat sports, although it is true that, in this particular case, its origin is in the world #military. The creator of Taekwondo was General Choi Hong Hi, although the date of birth of this sport is marked in 1955, it happens that its roots can be traced back a couple of hundred years old.

En fin, que no fue un día malo, pero no he estado con toda la energía, ya esperemos que eso cambie y la semana laboral que empieza sea buena.

Mejor retomemos lo de la efeméride del #ArteMarcial, es un asunto que corresponde más al mundo del #deporte, cosa que comparte con todos los deportes de #combate individual, aunque es cierto que, en este caso particular, su origen está en el mundo #militar. El creador del Taekwondo fue el general Choi Hong Hi, a pesar de que se marca la fecha de nacimiento de este deporte en 1955, sucede que se puede remontar sus raíces a un par de cientos de años de antigüedad.

It happens that General Choi Hong Hi, combined an already existing martial art in Korea with one from Japan, it is the combination of Taekkyon with Karate. Taekkyon was characterized by its combinations of attacks in which the use of the lower limbs predominated, palm attacks, fluid movements and a certain aesthetic sense of beauty of the movement, like a dance... but a rather lethal dance. From karate, he took fist attacks forms, which in traditional Taekkyon were practically non-existent, in addition to certain movement schemes, training clothing, and 'katas' or training figures.

The mixing was effective, but it was also a bit of a 'thorny' issue, considering the old history of military, political and social conflicts between the two countries where the mixed martial arts came from. However, the result was a good thing, at least from my limited perspective.

Sucede que el general Choi Hong Hi, combinó un arte marcial ya existente en Corea con uno de Japón, se trata de la combinación del Taekkyon con el Karate. El Taekkyon se caracterizaba por sus combinaciones de ataques en los que predominaba el uso de los miembros inferiores, ataques de palma, movimientos fluidos y un cierto sentido estético de belleza del movimiento, como un baile… pero un baile bastante letal. Del karate se tomó los ataques de puño, que en el tradicional Taekkyon eran prácticamente inexistentes, además de ciertos esquemas de movimiento, indumentaria de entrenamiento, y ‘katas’ o figuras de entrenamiento.

La mezcla fue efectiva, pero también fue un tema un tanto ‘espinoso’, si se considera la vieja historia de conflictos militares, políticos y sociales entre los dos países de donde provenían los artes marciales que se estaban mezclando. Sin embargo, el resultado fue algo bueno, al menos desde mi limitada perspectiva.

By the way, the reason why today's date, August 4, was chosen as the day for this celebration, is because, on this date (but in 1994), the International Olympic Committee, #IOC, decided to include #taekwondo as an official Olympic sport. Before this date, this sport had been present in other Olympic Games, but as an exhibition sport (1988), so its acceptance as a competitive sport (by the highest international sports organization) is truly a step historical.

Personally, I never practiced this sport, but I have memories of it, due to several younger cousins who did practice it, so you could hear a little about it, its history, the competitions, and how the little ones were doing advancing in their training. I have always thought that it is good for the children in the house to use their abundant energy in some activity, and if that activity gives them physical and mental training, then it is much better.

Por cierto, la razón por la que se escogió esta fecha de hoy, 4 de agosto, como el día para esta celebración, es debido a que, en esta fecha (pero en 1994), el Comité Olímpico Internacional, #COI, decidió incluir al #taekwondo como deporte olímpico oficial. Ya con anterioridad a esta fecha, este deporte había estado presente en otros Juegos Olímpicos, pero en calidad de deporte de exhibición (1988), así que su aceptación como deporte de competencia (por parte del máximo organismo deportivo internacional) es de verdad un paso histórico.

En lo personal, nunca practiqué este deporte, pero tengo recuerdos del mismo, debido a varios primos y primas menores que sí lo practicaron, así que se podía escuchar un poco sobre el tema, su historia, las competencias, y el cómo iban los pequeños avanzando en su formación. Siempre he pensado que es bueno que los niños de la casa usen su abundante energía en alguna actividad, y si esa actividad les proporciona entrenamiento físico y mental, entonces es mucho mejor.
