The first day of this month, Pohela Baishakh, is a special day of joy in the lives of Bengalis, that is, ours. On this day, we welcome the new year by wearing new clothes, making halkhata, visiting fairs, and participating in various cultural events. The bright light of the sun seemed to be hidden in some secret corner. Around noon, dark clouds suddenly began to gather in the sky. Looking at the cloud-covered sky, it seemed as if nature wanted to show its different form today. A strange smell spread in the air—the foreshadowing of wet soil. Paper torn by the wind began to fly through the streets, and the clothes of pedestrians became wet. The shutters of shops fell with a bang, and people ran for shelter. This sudden rain seemed to highlight the true nature of Baishakh. When the sky begins to clear up after the rain, nature seems to emerge in a new form. The plants are washed and refreshed, the rainbow of the sky is reflected in the water that collects on the road.
