There are so many things I will love to say about my work and how I went from struggling in the street of Uyo to owning one of the biggest Saloon in Uyo. I am not just owning the saloon, I am one of the most sort after stylist in Uyo and that is all God's grace and mercy with hard-work and consistency.

After my secondary education, I asked myself what I would do in life, I know I was brilliant but also my background was of disadvantage for me to study to the academic height I was dreaming to attend in life and also I needed to get myself busy to support my parents and siblings as a male child.

So much hunger at home and my parents were doing everything so that we can have something to eat but I think their efforts wasn't enough so I went into the street and began to serve as an apprentice to one of the best nail technician then, I served him with due diligence and everything. He liked me and did not collect a dime from me, so I learnt it for free and I was also good to other people that they allowed me learn hair locking, piercing and massaging for free.

When I finished my apprenticeship, I was thinking of where to get money and start up my own business, so i decided to work for my boss, instead of collecting monthly pay, I offered to work and be paying him some percentage from my work in his office.

It turned out to be one of the biggest and best decision I made then, I worked with my boss and from there I was able to save up and bought my first nail drying machine. I also bought other items and kept at home till I was able to get a shop of my own and started small.

The space was small but it was born out of pains, so much hard work and calculative decision, I didn't take it for granted, I grew from there year in year out. I grew my customers and made friends with plenty of them, I gave them the value of their money, I wasn't competing with my boss, I was only replicating what I learnt working as an apprentice and as a staff in his umbrella.

From the little space, I rented a more comfortable space and stayed because I started having apprentices coming to learn work from me, I kept going to my boss to upgrade my skills and also learnt from others, I watched a lot of videos and took on high tasking nail designs, yes sometimes I fail but that is where I learnt how to perfect my art.

It took me years and pains to build AKJOEMODELCARES BRAND. I built it from scratch and right now I own one of the biggest Saloon space with over 10 staffs and 20 apprentices in my office. This didn't just happen, it took plan, work, courage and everything virteous to pull through and now I am standing tall and sharing my story so that you can be motivated. Now I can feed myself and also render help to my family thanks to God who made this happen.

If AK can do it, you can do it as well, pursue that little dream you have, you don't know where your biggest breakthrough might come from, don't relax on the least inconvenience, you will see the light you have prayed for.
