America's Secret Police (Part 21)

When the police start using war on terror tactics supposedly only used against foreign nationals abroad such as off the books blacksites where cooperation and confessions are elicited through torture, Miranda rights are ignored and the 6th amendment right to legal counsel is summarily denied that’s when you’ll know you live in a police state. Between 2004 and 2015, nearly 7,200 people were detained at the Homan Square facility in Chicago mostly for drug related crimes. Chicago police allowed lawyers access to clients in less than 1% of cases (68 out of 7,185) and used what the CIA calls “enhanced interrogation” techniques to extract information from suspects, some of which were probably false and given only in desperation to please the cops and escape torture. None of those detained at Homan Square were read their Miranda rights prior to interrogation as articulated by SCOTUS in 4 separate cases of Miranda vs. Arizona and thus were not afforded their 5th amendment right against self-incrimination. Obama’s DOJ never investigated the abuses alleged at the Homan Square facility and Noir News recently brought up the fact that this site is not only still in operation, the feds work in the building as well.

Angel Perez testimony

In 2012, Angel Perez was arrested after agreeing to meet with officers outside of a restaurant and detained at the Homan Square facility for several hours where several interrogating officers threatened to plant evidence (of drug possession with intent to distribute) on him and his family and send him to Cook County jail to be raped by gang members if he refused to become an informant. The interrogating officers also resorted to physical torture with the Polie Sgt sitting on Perez’s chest while he was handcuffed to a bench and ankle shackled to a wall while gouging his eyes. Two officers also sodomized Perez with a service pistol for refusing to cooperate which caused Perez to finally fold to their demands. Video footage shows Perez being escorted by two officers to a door labelled “Prisoner Entrance” within the Homan Square facility. The investigation Perez was forced to become an informant in was a joint investigation with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois.

Testimony of Vic Suter and Brian Church

In 2012, eleven protestors of the Nato summit in Chicago were arrested during a police raid and detained at the Homan Square facility. They were handcuffed to a bench and only provided two bathroom breaks over the course of 18 hours. None of the detainees were read their Miranda rights prior to interrogation.

Brock Terry was detained at the Homan Square facility for 3 days in 2011 where he was hand cuffed to a bench and given only two meals.

Testimony from Kory Wright and Deandre Hutcherson

Kory Wright was detained with Deandre Hutcherson at the Homan Square facility for 6 hours in late June 2005. Neither were read their Miranda rights after being arrested during a sting operation and both were placed in rooms with a heater turned on, in the middle of summer, hand cuffed to a bench with no access to a restroom or water. Hutcherson was punched in the face and kicked in the groin during his interrogation. Hutcherson faked an asthma attack and was released from this “enhanced interrogation.” Wright was eventually booked in a Cook County jail on drug charges, but he was later acquitted after trial.

Officer William Kilroy’s Deposition

In a sworn deposition given in November 2015, Chicago police officer William Kilroy intimated that the CPD conduct joint operations with the Feds at the Homan Square facility typically under the supervision of an assistant U.S. attorney. He also revealed that only 3 out of 13 interrogation rooms had cameras which means incidents like the aforementioned could be easily concealed.

Sworn affidavit from Homeland Security special agent

A criminal complaint filed by a special agent with Homeland Security Investigations working on a drug trafficking case indicates that this site is still used as a detention facility as late as October 2024 and that the Feds who use the site are complicit in the torture of suspects that occurs during detention.
