It is a story that has its origin in ancient Rome, back in the third century. In those days, a priest decided to marry those couples, made up of soldiers, who were forbidden to do so. There was a priest, whose name was Valentine who refused to let these soldiers have to renounce his love, because he considered it an injustice and because of that, he dedicated himself to protect them and to marry them in secret.

The Emperor of Rome Claudius II, discovered that the priest Valentine was contrary to his mandate, so he ordered his arrest. While Valentín was in jail, he met Julia, the daughter of jailor Asterius. This one to make mockery of the priest, asked him to return the sight to his blind daughter. And the priest said he would. That's right, he looked back at Julia. A fact that convulsed the jailer and his family, causing them to convert to Christianity. But, in spite of this fact, the Emperor Claudius gave the order to martyr and execute Valentine February 14.

Another version tells that Valentine fell in love with Julia and that in the time he was in jail, he dedicated himself to writing letters and love poems.
