I have been active on Steemit since around 3 months and even if my "growth" seems quite steady, I still find tough that the time taken to write quality posts is a risky investment regarding how the rewards are very lottery like.
I have been curated, selected and nominated in many awesome tops so I believe I do create interesting content but I realise how those are usually more of a short kick rather than bringing a sustainable supporting community (even if I do have recurrent supporters/upvoters).
So, like many who are starting here and expect a lot from the platform, I obviously try the most initiatives I can find to help me and others if possible.

I know what you mean, sometimes I think I could write a really good post but don't do it because I'm afraid it just get missed. So I want to have more followers first but you get that by writing posts :) But in the end I just want to create art and show it ;)

@haedre I agree. I think curation on Steemit has a lot of problems, especially for the newcomers and the recent Steemian recruits such as ourselves.
I think I am finding that it is very important to stay very active and connected with followers and commenters on your posts. It is also important to curate alot of content (like ALOT) to start getting curated back.
I think 90% of the curation that occurs on the Steemit Platform is quid pro quo. It sucks, but it's just the way it is. It's good in the sense that it makes us "unselfish" but bad in the sense that we have to curate way too much content and do a shit ton of quid pro quo to make money on this platform lol.

Yeah.... Also, it's a bit easier for those who came and built a following earlier, when there were fewer people here!
I came across a post where an older user said that trying the approach he applied earlier when he first start off, if applied now, it didn't work!
At this point, it definitely makes sense to try out various approaches!
Either that or leave..... and I also tend towards trying different approaches, rather than just packing up. So, thanks for sharing this!

I am not sure how true that is but it can be that there are not enough whales supporting art at the moment. I see that it is quite a small circle of them who are around and supporting. I remember having read somewhere it had something to do with the current "low" value of Steem. Also the curve seems so steep to have powerfull votes so there's some kind of ditch in between. Expecially since there's also a lot of new users.
