A life that is largely also determined by the Druids, mystic beings with magical powers wandering at will in the underworld and possessing the gift to look into the future. They stand above everything, are worshipped like gods and consulted in State affairs. Each character pursues his own goals and follows his story of revenge, survival, seizure of power, which also drives the events of the other characters and their developments and that of the series. Of course, both on the Roman and the Celtic side are intrigues, betrayal and assassinations since everyone sees themselves in power. The film was mainly shoot in the Czech Republic. The series is the first co-production between Sky original production and Amazon Prime film. With actors like David Morrissey ( "The Walking Dead "), Kelly Reilly ( "True Detective ") and Zoë Wanamaker ( "Harry potter "), the production is star occupied. The screenplay comes from James Bond "Spectre "-Author Jez Butterworth. World premiere was on 18 January in the United Kingdom, where it was released on demand. So I too have stumbled upon the series, because as I find not so much, to no advertising was made. In Germany, Britannia will air on Friday at 20.15 p.m. on the 23rd of February. It should be already out on sky in the US, too.

Mittlerweile muss ich zugeben das bei so vielen hochkarätigen Serien, die in den letzten Jahren erschienen sind, sowohl was schauspielerische Leistung betrifft als auch die teilweise brilliant ausgeklügelten Storys, Serien, Filmen den Rang ablaufen. Es ist ja auch kein Wunder, den in 2 bis 3 stunden eines Filmes kannst du nur so viel erzählen, Handlung-oder Charakter Entwicklung mit einbauen, wie dir zeit bleibt die eigentliche Geschichte zu erzählen. Serien haben mehr Spielraum und längst ist auch die A-Riege der Charakter Schauspieler in den Produktionen heimisch. Um euch also die Zeit zwischen den Game of Thrones Staffeln so angenehm wie möglich zu vertreiben, wäre Britannia meiner Meinung nach gar nicht so schlecht. Um der Invasion zu trotzen, muss sich wiederum das zerstrittene Volk der Insel zusammenraufen, was sich nicht als so einfach gestaltet da die Stämme seit Jahren über Blutsfehden verfeindet und miteinander in ständigem Krieg leben. Ein leben das zum großen Teil auch von den Druiden mitbestimmt wird, mystische Wesen mit magischen Kräften die nach belieben in der Unterwelt wandern und die Gabe besitzen in die Zukunft zu blicken, sie stehen über allem, werden wie Götter verehrt und bei Staats Angelegenheiten zu Rate gezogen. Jeder Charakter verfolgt seine eigenen Ziele und folgt seiner Story von Rache, Überleben, Machtergreifung, die wiederum auch die Geschehnisse der anderen Charaktere und dessen Entwicklungen und die der Serie vorantreibt. Natürlich wird auch sowohl auf römischer als auch auf keltischer Seite intrigiert, verraten und gemeuchelt was das zeug hält, den jeder sieht sich an der Macht.
