No "starter set" purchase is required if you want to own and collect your own Steem Monster cards. I feel like there may be a misconception in the Steem community about the barrier of entry into the collection of Steem Monster cards. It is true that if you want to play (battle) to win reward cards and tournaments, you have to buy the $10 starter set.
