A short but sweet song by one of my favorite sad sack songwriters. Sadly, it's not usually a good sign if I have Jason Molina's songs in my head. Often times, that can mean that the darkness (as he likes to put me) has found me again. That's not really the case this time, though. This time, it's just a song.

This song is over almost as quickly as it begins, which is somehow fitting. The last line is simply "my ghost ain't waiting."

That was true for the songwriter. He only lived to be 39 and died from multiple organ failure due to alcoholism. Fun stuff! It seems like all of the best songwriters die young. That's sad for everyone who knew them, but it is often better for people who appreciate good songs.

I don't know if this is something that is common with everyone or not, but I seemingly wake up with a song already in my head every single morning.

There is often no reason why it should be there. I hadn't heard it in the previous day, hadn't discussed it, nothing.
