And a strong sunlight from the blue sky heated the land and my head without a cease, so I became exhausted and just thought to return to hotel and take a rest. Then, one man suddenly called me. * 테헤란에서 머물던 마지막 날, 시간 부족으로 보고자 했던 명소들을 거의 다 가지 못했습니다. 그리고 작렬하는 태양빛은 쉴새없이 제 머리와 땅을 덥혔고, 저는 피곤해져서 호텔로 가서 그냥 쉬고 싶었어요. 그 때, 한 남자가 저를 불렀습니다. ___ "Hello, are you busy now? If you aren't can I talk to you for a while?" .... Who on earth is this guy and why does he want to talk to stranger? That was my first and candid thought,impressions about him. Certainly I was so tired after all-day working so just considered to ignore him. "Nope, I am so fatiguee and don't have a room for talking to you, sorry." "안녕하세요? 바빠요? 바쁘지 않다면 저랑 얘기 잠깐만 할 수 있어요?" 대체 이 남자는 누구길래 처음 보는 사람과 얘기하고 싶어하는 거지? 이게 사실 이 남자에 대한 제 솔직한 첫 인상이었어요. 확실히 저는 하루 종일 걸어다녀서 꽤 피곤했기에, 그냥 무시하기로 마음먹었죠. "아뇨, 저 많이 피곤해서 얘기할 여유가 없네요. 미안합니다." ___ But he insisted talkling to me, ignoring my current condition and giving impressions he was so eager to meet anybody who was willingly to listen to him. "It's okay, I am not a suspicious person and working for a military now. I am now off-duty and on my way to returning to base. If you don't wanna say sth, just sit beside me and listen to what I am saying. Please." 그러나 그는 제 컨디션은 무시하면서, 마치 자기 얘기를 그저 들어주기만 할 사람을 찾았다는 인상을 주면서 계속 저에게 말을 걸더군요. "괜찮아요, 난 수상한 사람이 아니고 현재 군(軍)에 있어요. 휴가 나왔다가 부대 복귀 중이에요. 말하기 싫으면, 내 옆에 잠시 앉아서 그냥 내가 말하는 걸 잠깐만 들어주면 됩니다. 부탁할게요." ___ The Iranian guy looking for persons who will hear his story on the street? A solider on his off-duty? And the audacity to talk to foreigners? The mixture of 'weird' things were enough to lure childlike traveller into machination(?) of local people, so I decided to talk to him. And that was found clever, the best one among choices I made during whole travel. 자기 이야기를 들어줄 사람을 거리에서 찾고 있는 이란인 남자? 휴가 나온 군인? 그리고 외국인에게 말을 걸 담대함을 가진 사람이라니? 이 '기괴한' 조합은 현지인의 계략에 순진한(!) 여행자를 걸려들게 하기에 충분했어요. 그리고, 이 남자와 말하기로 한 선택은 여행 중 제가 가장 잘한 것 중 하나가 됩니다. ___ First, his initial origin of birth was uncommon - at least to me. His ancestors were Kurdish, from southeastern part of Turkey originally but his family migrated to the area where now is north-eastern part of Iran. They are an ethnic group in the Middle East and estimated to number around 30 millions, enough numbers to form a ehtnic-based country/states. He was also a victim of structural violence of military camp. His upper class officer often beated him and his colleagues. He expressed those phenomena as "disgusting and what needs to be perished away immediately". 그리고 이란의 병영에 대해서도 많은 이야기를 해주었어요. 인권이 흔히 무시되고 잉여적인 것으로 취급되는 그 곳에 대하여. 그 역시 구조적인 폭력의 피해자 중 하나였고, 그의 상관은 그와 동료들을 자주 구타했다고 하더군요. 이 남자는 "역겹고 하루 빨리 사라져야 할" 현상이라고 표현했습니다. ___ He had a plan to migrate any places except Iran and Turkey. Iran, his hometown and mother country, was too harsh to live under 'current' (of that time) political circumstances and Turkey also discriminated Kurds so he may not live peacefully in the land which gives him just a feeling of being 'alienation'. His dream places were as folloiwng : Austria, Austrailia and Canada. So I asked him - "Why do you pick only 3 countries? Aren't there many available options?" His answer was simple ; These 3 countries are the most friendly and welcoming for outsiders and can provide me occupational opportunities for using my multilingual traits - He can speak 7 langs : English, Turkish, Kurdish, Iranian, Georgian, Germany and French also! 그는 이란과 터키외의 다른 장소로 이주할 계획을 가지고 있었습니다. 그의 고향이자 모국인 이란에서, 당시의 정치환경에서 살기에 그 땅은 너무나 가혹했고 터키는 쿠르드인을 차별하기에 소외감만 안겨주는 그 곳에서 평화롭게 살 수도 없다는 이유에서이죠. 그가 가고 싶은 곳은 오스트리아, 호주 그리고 캐나다였어요. 그래서 물었죠. "왜 3개만 골라요? 다른 곳도 많잖아요?" 그의 대답은 간결했습니다. "저 세 나라가 이방인에게 가장 호의적이에요. 그리고 7개국어를 하는 저에게 구직 기회도 제공해주거든요. 저는 영어, 쿠르드어, 이란어, 조지아어, 독어 그리고 프랑스어도 할 줄 알아요!" ___ About 30 mins of converation, we left where we sat and headed to near metro stations. He thanked me for joining his talks and expressed his apology for being rude at first encounter. We hugged softly, and wished each other's good luck.
