I'm considering that the slowdown is due to the season, with holidays and all that coming up for people and just a general time of lower activity. The hope is that in the next few weeks we'll be able to inspire an increase in contributions by getting the word out and getting more security-minded individuals on board. This has been a rather high scoring week with all contributions above the 90 mark at 93, 95 and 100. Since the anti-abuse category aims to have good quality high-scoring posts, this is as intended and is excellent by all counts. ### Active Assessors for the Week - @enforcer48 - @guiltyparties - @anthonyadavisii # Metrics: 2019 ![](https://i.imgur.com/aQdcrWp.png) The **highest** month for contributions was April with 20 posts; the **lowest** was January with 7. The hope is that June will eventually be able to catch up and surpass April with over 20, but so far it's a slower climb. We have to work harder at inspiring contributors to produce and submit quality contributions that the public actually wants to read and learn from. The total sum of all 2019 contributions stands at **80** to date. (Four of those were subsequently rejected for various reasons but are still included in these numbers as having been received.) The rejections all happened earlier on and not in recent months, when the quality of contributions generally increased. ![](https://i.imgur.com/6XUCDpy.png) A total of **18 contributors** made posts under the @utopian-io *anti-abuse* category so far this year. This still stands true today. The top contributor is still @jaguar.force with 15 valid contributions, but @anthonyadavisii is closing in on them with his own 11 contributions. We hope we'll see more contributions from the other anti-abuse writers in the future as well as from new faces on the anti-abuse scene. ![](https://i.imgur.com/1xsAOUn.png) There are currently only three active assessors in the anti-abuse category, although over the lifetime of the category itself we had a total of five. This is just general attrition and people re-focusing elsewhere in their lives for necessity sakes and not due to anything to do with the anti-abuse category itself. It should not be taken as a reflection on Utopian or the category. ![](https://i.imgur.com/RgFWyM2.png) So far, a total of 4 contributions were rejected as wholly invalid for the category and were thus not assessed. This number hasn't changed from last week or the week prior and hopefully will not change in the future. We don't want to get invalid contributions. ### Optimization Tools for Contributors - [Steem Projects](https://steemprojects.com) - discover excellent Steem projects that you probably didn't know about - [Clockify](https://clockify.me/tracker) - track the time you and your partners use in your anti-abuse project Every week I'll change these up so watch this space. # Good Contributions to the Anti-Abuse Category A good contribution doesn't have to be on a particularly pressing anti-abuse subject to be relevant. For example, you don't have to write about investigating plagiarism or something where you've personally gotten your hands dirty and put yourself at risk. A good contribution will typically have the following checked off: - The post will be interesting to read (you don't want to have the reader give up halfway through because of boredom) - The post will be by someone who knows the anti-abuse landscape of the Steem ecosystem - The writer will evidently care about the anti-abuse topic they are writing about - The post will have some helpful metrics or images to guide the reader - The post will strive to educate the reader on how to recognize abuse and empower them to fight it # More Mistakes to Avoid - Talking about security or cybersecurity without knowing much about the actual security vulnerability or vector. If you don't know, ask someone who does or do your own due research. No one wants to read a contribution that tackles an important security matter only to realize the author is unfamiliar with the topic. - Using animated images that distract from the text or diminish the severity of the matter that's being discussed. The topic of anti-abuse is not a joke. A funny meme here and there can help make a point but when those memes are everywhere they make the contribution post unreadable. # Previous Reports These are the reports created by me since I took over from @iamstan.
