Several years ago, I started an ecological project that involved sponsoring several trees. I looked for some ceiba seeds, germinated them, and raised them until they reached a height of about two meters. I then transplanted them and have been caring for them until they reached adulthood.

During the rainy and dry seasons, I have to visit them at least once a week. About two weeks ago, I noticed that they had damaged one of the ceibas to remove the thorns growing on its trunk. These thorns are sold to the curious.

We are in the dry season, their leaves are falling to prevent water evaporation, I dedicate myself to bringing them water at least once a week so they can survive the 5 months without rain.

This ceiba has been damaged twice. About three years ago, it was cut down to a height of 60 centimeters. I took care to ensure it sprouts again. Then, recently, they cut off 30 centimeters from the top. It is currently sprouting again.

I planted cacti and stones around this ceiba tree to protect it because I previously planted two ceiba trees in the same spot, and they were uprooted. It's about two months until the rain starts, and I hope that during the next rainy season they'll grow enough to reach adulthood so they can withstand the rainy periods without drying out.
