RoboBrain 2.0

What is being projected in China is a future where each humanoid robot from different brands and manufacturers shares the same digital brain, an artificial intelligence system capable of planning, perceiving and making decisions almost as fast as a human being, the name of the project is RoboBrain 2.0 launched by the Peking Academy of Artificial Intelligence.

The BAAI, the RoboBrain 2.0 is what they are calling the most powerful open source AI model specific for robotics in the world, the main focus is to accelerate the development of the much dreamed of intelligent humanoids that the world has been waiting for decades, compared to its previous version launched just 3 months before the RoboBrain 2.0 presents a 17% increase in processing speed and 74% in the accuracy of the responses, but the most impressive is the spatial intelligence capacity, which It now allows robots to perceive the distances between objects around them much more accurately, something essential for autonomous navigation and object manipulation.

Logical task decomposition capability

In addition to seeing the environment better, Robobrain 2.0 also brings improvements in task planning, this means that a robot can receive a complex order such as “fix the room” and divide that task into several steps, recognize scattered objects, plan routes so as not to trip over anything and even decide in which order to perform each action.

This ability to logically decompose tasks is a huge step towards truly functional robots within human environments and China's plans do not end there, the goal is to transform RoboBrain 2.0 and its operating platform Robo OS into what they call. the android of humanoids is a base operating system that in the future could work within robots from different manufacturers exactly as Android runs today on cell phones from various brands, but of course behind all this technological advance there is also a geopolitical game.

China is clearly positioning RoboBrain 2.0 as a response to American advances in AI and robotics, while companies like Nvidia, Open AI, Boston Dynamics dominate the spotlight in the West China has been building its own artificial intelligence infrastructure aimed at robots in the physical world.
