Hello friends home and abroad warm regards to everyone, I'm Anthony from Nigeria and it's a pleasure to have you on my post, I'm delighted to engage in this week's amazing Contest titled: "Incredible India monthly contest of June#1|Old Vs New!" organized by @meraindia.
Before I proceed, I would like to thank @meraindia, especially for organizing this amazing contest and the community. Is an honor to be part of the participants.
✨ Intro:
We live in a world that's all about the newest, the latest and the fastest, but in our hyperfocus on the shiny and new, we forget to take a step back and appreciate just how beautiful and valuable the old is. This post is a meditation on that tension, that struggle, between the old and the new — what is special about what came before, what must remain behind, and why changing things up is also the key to evolution. Let’s go for a mindful dip back into time.
🌟 Old vs New: Embracing the Past, Shaping the Future
In all generation, the talk about “old vs new” really intrigue and stimulate thoughts. From traditions to technology, lifestyle and values, people often measure what used to be against what exists now.
We may advance through innovation, but there’s a timelessness to how people did things for centuries. Let’s explore this theme by discussing what if anything was better in the past, appreciating what ‘old is gold’ is all about, and why change is nevertheless the spark that we need to build a great tomorrow.
Q1. Share the things that you believe were best in past, but now have been changed.
🔙 . What Was Better in the Past?
Even though the world is different, we still believe that some things were deeper, simpler, more rooted in an emotional reality in the past. Here are a few highlights:
Stronger Human Connections
Long before we entered the digital age, we found connection in face-to-face conversations, correspondence by hand and uninterrupted family time. It felt more genuine.
Music and Art with Soul
’70s, ’80s and ’90s music had emotion and lyrics that mattered. Older films and other works addressed issues that are still relevant.
Durability and Quality
Clothes, gadgets, tools — older items were designed to survive. They weren’t throwaway — they were go-to.
Respect and Discipline
Discipline, manners and moral values — traits that some lament are slipping away today — were taught, at home and at school.
Stronger Family and Community Bonds
In the process, they partied together, supported each other and developed stronger communities. Life was more intimate and less virtual.
Q2. How do you define old is gold?
🪙 . What Does “Old is Gold” Really Mean?
The essence of ‘Old is Gold’ simply suggests that not all that’s new is better. Some things, with time, become more valuable, not because they can change, but because they are the things that don’t.
It means:
The eternal is not of less value than the temporal.
Experience and wisdom matter.
History, culture and tradition must not be erased.
Whether it’s an old tune, a grandmother’s recipe or an old friendship — these “golden” memories in our past still shine.
Q3. Discuss some points why changes are needed for a better future!
🚀 3. Why Change Is Needed for a Better Future
And while we honor the past, we can’t overlook the fact that change is mandatory. Adjustment, progress and betterment are therein conditioned upon the power of adaptation.
Here’s why change is important:
Innovation Improves Lives
From medical advances to the internet, technology has solved problems and made life more efficient.
Promoting Equality
Modern society works to eliminate injustice and discrimination that were once normalized.
Environmental Awareness
Climate change and sustainability are now major concerns. We’re learning to protect our planet in ways people didn’t understand before.
Education and Access
Learning is now global. Anyone with an internet connection can learn, grow, and build a future.
Economic Opportunities
New industries—like tech, digital art, and remote work—have created careers that didn’t exist before.
🧠 Final Thoughts
The old and the new don't have to compete—they can coexist.
Let’s hold on to the valuable lessons of the past while being open to the innovations of the future. Treasure what was, embrace what is, and prepare for what can be.
Because in the end, the best path forward is one where wisdom meets innovation.
