SFS Contest Week 46! Drawing Contest Draw Mint leaves.

Happy to meet you again in this community. Hope everything will be alright my friends. In this post I am going to draw mint leaves. Mint leaves are small and look so beautiful with their beautiful texture and natural shape. Mint leaves are very famous herbs. These are used all over the world for its refreshing flavour and many health benefits. Its cool appearance and smooth lines make it an enjoyable, especially when focusing on nature and freshness.

These materials I used at the time of drawing Mint leaves.

Step 1

In the first step I made basic leaf outlines. I softly I drew outlines of three leaves. First leaf is looking upward, the second is curved to the left. The third leaf I drew downward. I joined these leaves at a central point and forming a neat base. I make the pencil strokes soft and light for giving a smooth start to shape. I drew each leaf in different direction and making drawing look natural. I kept the outlines simple without any details for this step.

Step 2

In the second step I drew big leaves below this first step. I made four big leaves below the first three leaves which I have done in first step. These new leaves I kept slightly larger in size and are arranged around the lower side of leaf group. I showed them in a way that leaves look naturally growing outward from the center. Leaves tips are curved softly and each leaf look in a different direction. This give balance to the drawing. I drew lines light and clean like first step. This step fill more volume and beauty to leaves.

Step 3

In the third step, I drew natural leaf veins and highlight them. I started this step by drawing inner lines inside each leaf using a lead pencil. These lines are the natural veins that we can see in real leaves. I traced the shape of every leaf with care. I drew lines from the center toward the edges. This thing gave to drawing more realistic and better look. After finishing all the pencil lines, I used a black pointer to highlight them clearly. This thing made the veins more visible and bold.

Step 4

My fourth step was bold outlined and shading in leaves. In this step I used a black marker to bold outline each leaf in the drawing. This made the shape of the leaves stand out more clearly and gave a neat finish to the edges. After outlining, I did not use any colourful shades. I filled inside of the leaves with black colour pencil only. I shaded with black pencil to show depth and texture. This thing gave to drawing a strong, elegant and classic black and white look.
