Thanks to Splinterlands for the Weekly Share Your Battle Challenge.

This time, the battle has to be with Fire splinter monster of Serpentine Spy, an Untamed Common monster.

This monster is with 3 melee attack to start with in level 1 to 4 and gets promoted to 3 in levels 5 to 7 and increases to 4 from level 8 and above.

The speed starts with 3 and gets up to 4 in levels 2 and 3 and increases again to 5 in levels 4 to 6 and maximizes out to 6 in levels 7 to 10.

This monster doesn't come with any armor, one of the drawbacks because of it's low health which starts at 1.

The health as mentioned above, starts with 1 in levels 1 and 2 and becomes 2 in levels 3 to 5 and remains at 3 from level 6 and above.

Battle and Lineup:

This battle was for 38 mana and involved battle types Target Practice and Lost Legendaries.

Target Practice makes all the ranged and magic attack monsters to attack the ranged and magic monsters from opponent starting with second positioned monster.

Lost Legendaries doesn't allow the Legendary monsters usage in the battle.

The Serpentine Spy has 2 abilities viz. Opportunity and Poison.

Opportunity allows the monster to attack the monster from opponent placed at any position having lesser health and this ability is available from level 1.

Poison pours poison on the monster it attacks and that reduces the health of the monster at the beginning of each round and this ability is available at 10th level only.

Lineup:

I used the monsters in below order and I have also mentioned why I used that order.

I used Goblin Mech in first position for it's melee attack of 5 and also for the armors of 6 which can help it last a bit longer.

Second in the lineup was Prismatic Energy for a backup front monster as well as a 2 magic attack monster which as good health to last for some time. This also was required for the Target Practice battle type since all ranged and magic monsters will attack this monster first.

Used Ettin Spearman for the backup to get hit for the Target Practice besides the 4 ranged attack it gives.

Serpentine Spy, the D monster for this blog was at fourth position for attacking arbitrarily on whichever monster with lesser health is there because of it's Opportunity ability.

Kobold Miner was fifth in my lineup for sneak attack and this worked quite well as expected.

Last on the lineup was Centaur for Target Practice battle.

That looked a good lineup for me and the opponent linedup Death Splinter monster in the order of Goblin Mech, Haunted Spider, Octopider, Boogeyman, Twisted Jester and Elvin Cutthroat.

From opponent's lineup, we can clearly see that, he was well prepared for Target Practice battle, but I had some other options in Serpentine Spy and Kobold Miner along with a good Target Practice attack as well.

Battle:

Round 1:

Round 1 had 18 iterations and opponent lost Haunted Spider, which was positioned second on lineup and Elvin Cutthroat, positioned last.

Meanwhile, the Prismatic Energy I used was almost done because of Target Practice attack by Octopider and co.

Monsters after round 1 were:

Round 2:

Round 2 got reduced to 14 iterations and Prismatic Energy was done in the beginning of the this round and opponent had to lose Octopider and Boogeyman and that means, he had only Twisted Jester for Target Practice battle.

Round 3:

With both Goblin Mechs still having some fire in their belly, this round saw an exchange of attack between those 2 and Twisted Jester couldn't withstand Target Practice attack from Centaur and Ettin Spearman and the battle is done in this round itself.

Interestingly, our D monster Serpentine Spy finished it off by attacking the 1 health Twisted Jester.

Now let's answer those 2 questions need to be answered.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

I think it worked perfectly for me from placing Prismatic Energy for Target Practice instead of Ettin Spearman to placing Centaur last on the line.

What I could have tried differently is to have a monster with increasing the speed or Creeping Ooze to reduce the speed to make it even more interesting.

Do you use the SERPENTINE SPY often? Why or why not?

As of now, not much because of it's 1 health and it will be the first or second target for those Opportunity monsters and hence, better to get this upgraded to atleast 3 or 4 level before I use it regularly.

That's all about this battle with Serpentine Spy guys.

Let's wait and see what we get in this week's Weekly Battle.

Have a good day :)
