Tech Blog #222 | Samsung Galaxy M36 : Let's Compare with Last Year's M35..

We people understand where the #technology is right now. And there's no need to go back into the past, I mean the past generations, to save a dime. Smartphones have gone through certain steps in design, and now they're in a prominent position. And I can't imagine why #smartphone manufacturers go backwards and take that old design for a smartphone in these days.

The Samsung Galaxy M36 is a great example of that. From the look, you'll feel like you are looking at a smartphone from 2020. Big teardrop notch to house the front camera and thicker chin, and God knows why it's there. Maybe #Samsung had some old display stock, so they introduced this smartphone to sell those items.

And what Samsung highlights to sell this smartphone is AI stuff. The usual "Circle to Search" and Google Gemini are highlighted in commercials to sell this smartphone. And upgrading front glass protection to Gorilla Glass Victus is the other upgrade they could mention. And all others are the same as last year's Samsung Galaxy M35, or it has been downgraded.

The processor is the same Exynos 1380, and it is 2 years old, first used in the Galaxy A54 back in 2023. The camera setup is the same as the M35: 50+8+2 in the back and 13MP on the front. Just to differentiate, they have changed the back camera island.

The battery capacity has been downgraded from 6000 mAh to 5000 mAh. Battery capacity has been the highlight of the Galaxy M series, and they've stripped that as well. Charging speed sits at the same 25W, which is unreasonable in 2025. That type of charging speed ends up being a burden for the user.

The Samsung Galaxy M36 comes with OneUI 7 with Android 15. And Samsung has promised to provide 6 years of Android updates, which seems incredible, but who the hell uses this level of smartphone for 6 years? There will be no smartphones to install the updates, and that's a fact.

In my opinion, the Samsung Galaxy M36 is a failure. It diverged from the signatures of the Galaxy M series and introduced old design languages to the table, and certainly won't please the buyers.
