Yesterday was a memorable day for me and my little ones, Princewill and Unwana. It marked the beginning of the garri processing journey, a tradition passed down through generations in our community. The journey started with harvesting the cassava I had planted last year.
I woke up before dawn, feeling excited and eager to get started. After a quick brush of my teeth and morning cleaning, I headed to the farm, accompanied by Princewill and Unwana. They had insisted on joining me, and I couldn't resist their pleas. The farm is just a short walk from our house, and I saw this as an opportunity to teach them about farming and the value of hard work.
As we arrived at the farm, the cloudy weather threatened to dampen our spirits. But I was determined not to let the weather stop us. We got to work immediately, and the children watched with wide eyes as I harvested the cassava tubers. They asked questions, and I explained the process, teaching them about the importance of cassava in our culture.

By 11:30 am, we had finished harvesting, and I took a moment to capture the moment with a few photos. Princewill and Unwana beamed with pride as I snapped pictures of them amidst the harvested cassava. The experience was not only about harvesting cassava but also about creating memories with my little ones.

As we made our way back home, the sun began to peek through the clouds, casting a warm glow over the landscape. We were all tired but exhilarated from our morning's work. After a refreshing bath and a drink of cool water, we rested, our bodies and minds rejuvenated.
The journey to producing garri has just begun, and I'm excited to share the next stages of the process with you. From peeling and grating to frying and sifting, there's still much work to be done. But for now, I'm grateful for the experience shared with Princewill and Unwana, and I look forward to sharing more updates with you. Until then, stay tuned and have a lovely day.
