Without much ado, I'd like to elaborate on the definition of the keyword "Courtesy".

What do you understand by Courtesy? Explain

According to the Oxford Dictionary of English, Courtesy is the showing of politeness in one's attitude and behaviour towards others. It is the politeness, respect, and consideration for others.

Moving on, courtesy is important because it's the politeness of an individual, it includes simple acts like please, excuse me , sorry, thank you, pardon me. It reflect respect. This simple act makes someone respected by his friends, relatives and colleagues. Courstey also includes the greetings we greet our elderly ones. The importance of courtesy includes the following; promotes respect and dignity, enhances communication, improves relationships etc.

Name Five Instances where Courtesy is demand in your culture

  • Here is an instance where courtesy is demand : Making Requests; When requesting for something, it is polite to use the word "please", For instance May I come in please? This art spells the level of politeness. And "thank you" which shows appreciation for other people's time and appreciation.

  • Covering your mouth while coughing; This aspect of courtesy tells more about being hygienic and helps prevent spread of germs.
    Eating with your mouth close; this is a primary manner and it's mandatory.It also prevents flies from entering our mouth.

  • Visiting people with gifts; this aspect emphasizes how caring you are, how you relate with people, and it makes people you offer them gifts feels loved by others.

  • Offering your seat to someone who needs it the most; It demonstrates how caring you are to people when they need your help.

Yawning while your mouth is open, Not greeting our elders, Speaking in a rude manner. Not returning calls we've missed. Retaliating to people's mistakes.

I think courtesy is one of those small things that makes a big difference. It’s not about being fake or overly formal, it’s about treating people like they matter. A little respect, a bit of patience, a kind tone, even when you disagree, it all adds up. It keeps conversations healthy, makes tough moments easier to navigate, and just makes life smoother for everyone involved. Thank you
