MGNREGA Mahatma Gandhi National Ruler Employment Guarantee Act which is also known as MGNREGA Mahatma Gandhi National Ruler Employment Guarantee Scheme 2005. It was suspended in or like put them like government put indefinite hold on MGNREGA implementation in West Bengal citing some irregularities etc. It has been more than 3 years now. MGNREGA is still not happening in West Bengal. MGNREGA right to work in rural areas if you're willing to do 100 days unskilled manual work you can work under MGNREGA.

Anybody can work but this is right to work in rural areas. Many people also say that we need similar right to work in urban areas based on the amount of unemployment.

Here the issue is West Bengal High Court have asked center, Kolkata High Court directed union government to resume implementation of MGNREGA in West Bengal starting August 1. Like earlier central government have invoked clause 27 of MGNREGA where they said that which allowed funds to be withheld for a reasonable period. Kolkata rather is saying that this is like beyond a reasonable period. It's almost three years whatever issues had central government whereas Bengal government they worked on it and they tried to rectify some part of it. So it's putting a lot of stress on almost 2 cr (20 million) population of Bengal vulnerable population of Bengal.

So let's resume it in the meantime when for 3 years was banned in West Bengal. West Bengal government they introduced their own right to work in rural area scheme which was applicable for 50 days. So here this is a demand-driven program. right to work and it's for 100 days in a year.

One can demand work from government if he's in rural areas and the wage has to be provided within 15 days. Otherwise delayed compensation has to be given by government. So there are some issues how much delayed compensation was given not given. So there are different issues related to MGNREGA.

Kolkata High Court talking about the schemes cannot be indefinitely suspended. Central government's right to impose condition but emphasize the need to distinguish between past issues and future implementation whatever h has happened in the past has happened in the past now we have to look into the future.

So there is no reason for central government to withheld. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee said that she welcomed the decision.

The sate scheme is known as karmasri.

The legal petition was filed by Pashchim Banga Mazdur samiti and organization representing agricultural workers. So kolkata high court enter to resume implementation of MGNREGA in West Bengal.
