Assalam o alaikum.
Hello my steemit friends i hope you are all doing well and enjoying life . I enjoy writing and sharing real-life experiences in simple and easy English so that everyone can understand and learn something. This week’s topic is “Not What You Think ” which is about being misunderstood. I believe many of us have gone through such moments in life where others judge us without knowing the full story. I have also faced such a situation and today i want to share my thoughts and experience with you.
What do you understand by being "Misunderstood"?
Being misunderstood means when someone takes your words actions or behavior in the wrong way. They think you meant something bad even when your heart had good intentions. It can happen in many situations at home school work or even on social media. People may not listen carefully or they may judge quickly without asking your side. It hurts because you know your heart is clean but others don’t see it. That’s what i believe being misunderstood truly means.
Have you found yourself in such a situation if yes kindly share with us your experience?
Yes i have been misunderstood many times but one situations hurt me the most. It happened when i was helping one of my classmates prepared for her exams. She was weak in one subject and i offered to guide her. I spent many evenings helping her study. But one day when she made the same mistake again and again i told her in a serious tone “You need to focus more. You’re not taking this seriously.” Later i heard from another friend that she told others I was being rude to her and that i embarrassed her. I was shocked i nevered shouted at her or said anything to hurt her. I only wanted her to do well and passed her exams. She misunderstood my serious tone and thoughts i was insulting her. It mades me really sad because i was only trying to help.
How did you feel and how did you handle the misconception?
When i heard what she said about me i felt broken i was just trying to be a good friends and support her. Instead peoples started saying i was arrogant or that i showed off my knowledge. I felts lonely and disappointed i started asking myself if i had done something wrong. It was a heavy feeling because i knew my intentions were pure. But after some days i decided to speak to her directly. I messaged her and asked if we could talk. When we met i calmly told her “I’m really sorry if my words hurt you. I only wanted you to try harder because i believe in you.” She looked surprised and said “I thought you were angry with me. That’s why i told others you made me feel bad.” I explained to her that my tone was serious only because i cared she finally understood and apologized for misunderstanding me. We hugged and moved past the issuye. Later some of the peoples who heard the wrong story also came to me and said they were sorry for judging me without hearing my side. This experience taught me that good communication is very importants if i had explained my feelings earlier things might not have gone so wrong.
Is there any advice you would love to give to your readers so they don't find themselves in your shoes?
Yes i want to give some simple and helpful advice to my readers:
– Always speak clearly and kindly. Even if you are serious make sure your tone doesn’t sound rude. People can take it the wrong way.
– Explain your feelings when needed. Do not keeps quiet when you feeling misunderstood talk calmly and explain your side of the story.
– Do not judges others too quickly. If you hear something negative about someone ask them first before believing it.
– Say sorry when needed. If you realize you misunderstood someone don’t be afraid to apologize.
– Listens with an open heart. Many problems can be solved just by listening with understanding and care.
Being misunderstood is painful but it’s also a chanced to learn and grow always try to fixed things with kindness and honesty. Do not let misunderstandings break your friendships or peace of mind. Talk listen and clear the confusion.
