The Shocking Moments of My life - (@chant)

Steem greetings guys from the motherland-Cameroon and welcome to my blog as I participate in the contest “Shocking Moments of my life” organized by @sitaraindaryas.

Life always has a way of treating us and it comes with joyful, sad, and shocking memories. I have been living in a conflict region for over 8 years and I put to birth three kids during those years in a conflict affected region of my country. Every day we live to experience explosives, gunshots, kidnapping for ransom by armed men, force disappearances, torture and indiscriminate arrest.

All these were not shocking to me because I am an expert in conflict peace and security. I often had a way to go about my daily activities. All these years I have been actively working in the field as human rights expert, humanitarian expert and gender expert managing cases and carrying out projects within my field of work.

Until one day when I was returning home and caught up in a cross fire between armed separatists and government forces. My imagination run wild and I think of how my kids will react while at home alone. I had to find a way to be back home and while at home I noticed my kids were still in school. I called the school and they assured me they can not release the kids until everywhere is calm. Just after talking with the head teacher, a sound of heavy explosive boom, I was shocked and could not just stay back home knowing my kids are out there.

I left the house and found myself in my kids school and the explosive was dropped at a police control checkpoint in-front of their school. Two police officers were killed and that day, I made up my mind to relocate with my kids immediately the school year was over. As I arrived their school, they were in trauma and I had to use my counseling skills as a psychosocial expert to counsel them. I could imagine the trauma other kids were going through.

Another shocking moment on Steemit was the day I got support from SC01. I joined steemit during the outbreak of COVID-19. My office was shutdown and we were asked to stay back at home till further notice. Little did we know that it was the end of work and the office was shutdown permanently till date.

I searched for other means to survive and boom got to steemit. It was not an easy ride until one point I almost decided to quit steemit. My mentor at the time kept on encouraging us that we should stay consistent and create quality content. One faithful day, I wake up to check my account and saw notifications from steemit.

Guys, it was like God has answered my prayers when I open the notification and had received an upvote from SC01. I was so excited and it gave me the courage to never give up. Till date, I do not relent on creating content even if the support is not there, I have hope than one day, it will come my way, stay consistent and produce quality content.
