As I mentioned here recently, I have finally ventured into the world of artificial intelligence and had some of my most pressing questions answered. Well, maybe not really the most pressing questions, but at least I was able to get a few helpful answers.
In light of recent events, for example, I asked what countries like Germany, Japan and the USA actually export and import. I then ask to create a quiz in which there was a range of physical and digital goods to choose from, which you then had to assign to the respective countries.
I also wanted the answer to my question to be served up with percentages and an absolute value for exports and imports.
As I am still fairly new to the world of AI applications and assistance programs, I was amazed at how quickly and clearly the result appeared. If I had searched for all the data on the Internet myself, it would have taken me considerably longer, and I'm not even sure if I would have found everything.
Of course, as always you have to be a little careful with what the internet tells you, but I'm assuming that in this case the data, which is from the year 2023, is accurate. At least the answer to my question sounds logical and plausible, and it's not really a big surprise.
Perhaps you would like to take a quick guess yourself and think about which goods the USA, Germany and Japan actually export and import. Here is a selection of physical and digital goods:
Physical Goods:
Cars & vehicle parts
Industrial machinery & equipment
Aircraft & spacecraft
Electronic components
Consumer electronics (e.g. cameras, televisions)
Agricultural products (e.g. corn, soybeans, meat)
Crude oil & energy products
Chemical products
Pharmaceutical products & medicines
Optical devices & precision instruments
Digital Goods:
Software (e.g. Microsoft, Adobe, Google)
Cloud services (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure)
Social media & platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, TikTok)
Entertainment technology (e.g. video games, streaming services)
Semiconductors & IT services
And here is the answer, which I had recreated in text form for this blog. In my actual task, it was output in table form, which the AI program does exactly as requested. I can only say that it's extremely practical!
In 2023, the United States exported a variety of goods, including machinery (15%), agricultural products (14%), software and cloud services (12%), chemical products (10%), aircraft (8%), cars (7%), pharmaceuticals (6%), optical devices (5%), and semiconductors and electronics (5%). The total export value reached approximately 2.0 trillion USD. On the import side, key goods included crude oil and energy products (18%), machinery (15%), vehicles and vehicle parts (12%), pharmaceuticals (10%), consumer electronics (8%), food and agricultural products (8%), chemicals (7%), and optical devices (5%), with an import value of around 3.2 trillion USD.
Germany's export sector was driven primarily by cars and vehicle parts (17%), machinery (14%), chemical products (9%), electronics (8%), pharmaceuticals (7%), optical devices (6%), metals and raw materials (5%), food (5%), and software (4%). The country's total exports were valued at approximately 1.69 trillion USD. Its key imports consisted of vehicles (11%), machinery (10%), electronics (8%), pharmaceuticals (7%), chemical products (7%), raw materials (5%), food (5%), optical devices (5%), and cloud services (4%), with a total import value of about 1.46 trillion USD.
Meanwhile, Japan exported predominantly cars (25%), machinery (20%), vehicle parts (15%), electrical devices (10%), entertainment technology (10%), chemical products (5%), optical devices (5%), and semiconductors (5%). The total export value stood at approximately 717 billion USD. Japan’s imports were led by crude oil and energy products (30%), raw materials (25%), electronic components (15%), machinery (10%), food (10%), pharmaceuticals (5%), and optical devices (5%), amounting to an import value of roughly 786 billion USD.
Well, now we all know a little more and also where those countries stand when it comes to global exports and imports. As I said, it was quite impressive how fast I got that information and clearly it was shown to me. I guess I will come up with more tasks and more questions in the near future, when some assistance application will come in pretty handy. Who knows, they might even change our whole life 😁
