I love fish but do not eat it very often. I do not like buy and keep fish in freezer therefore, if I decide to cook fish then I buy it on the day. Usually we buy either at fish department in supermarket or by Fishmonger, then at least we know where the fish is coming from and usually they are fresh. So my fish day is approximately once a months and usually on weekends.
There are two favourite fish arts that I really enjoy. One is salmon, I like smoked and salted salmon and usually I like it for breakfast. Often I have salmon as part of sushi too. Salmon is coming already ready from supermarket that is why it is an easy breakfast and does not need any preparation.
The other fish is haddock, that is boneless and I like to fry it in pan with onion and some potatoes. Usually haddock I can buy is already small pieces that is cut and cleaned, that is why it is easy just to cook when I am at home with haddock.
When I was a child my mother made a fish soup, she cooked fish for half an hour, then added some onion, potatoes salt and black pepper, that was the best soup at all. I remember how good it tasted and even now time to time I like to do such soup.
Still my favourite will remain fried fish, it is quick, delicious and easy to prepare, even without much experience everyone can do that. This is what my mother always telling me as a student if there is little time just prepare fried potatoes with fish.
I usually serve my fish with fried or boiled potatoes, sometimes I bake potatoes in cooker with lemon and rosemary, as side dish I also add tomatoes and cucumber that I cut and salt a bit.
My favourite recipe portions for two:
- haddock fish two pieces of 200g, they need to be salted and peppered
- one onion
- 6 medium sizes of potatoes
- some vegetable oil
- salt and black pepper
How to cook:
Take pan, heat it, then add vegetable oil, once it is hot enough then add onion that is cut into small pieces, mix it and fry till golden colour.
Then it is time for fish, fry it from both sides, till it is golden colour.
Now it is time for potatoes that need to be cut in slices, then add to pan, I usually mix altogether and add again a bit of salt and pepper but also a bit of water, then cover with lid and leave it for 15 minutes slow cook. Once potatoes are soft then you can switch it off and it is ready for serving.

El pescado con papas es muy rico.
La sopa de pescado es muy nutritiva. Aquí en casa prepara las cabezas en un caldo con vegetales. Me reanima cuando la tomo.
