Buon riposo, Pierino.

CIAO PIERINO
Alberto Sordi said that one day he was walking around Cinecitta', he met a screenwriter who was writing the story for a film, Albertone asked him if it was a dramatic or comic film, the screenwriter replied that it was dramatic.
"Then you're resting" was the actor's response.
Making people laugh is difficult, terribly difficult, this is told to you by someone who is on stage 120 nights a year with a microphone in his hand.
Alvaro Vitali, the Pierino of Italian cinema, has left us.
He was 75 years old, recently I had read something about problems with the wife or ex-wife, in the end even if you lived like a King you always die alone like an idiot.
He made 150 films, also working with Fellini and other great directors but success came with sexy Italian comedies, calling them sexy considering what is going on today, seems to me like a term from another time.
I wasn't crazy about his very dialectal comedy but he was good and had found his vein.
But then fashions pass and times change, the phone no longer rings, he lived the good life for decades and now he was living on a 1300 euro pension, a pension that not all Italians have access to.
This is how he presented his Pierino at children's birthday parties, at parties, sometimes at the theater to make ends meet, Pierino should never have aged but... it happened.
He remains the protagonist of a carefree and rowdy season of Italian cinema; asses and tits, great actors and mediocre figures, female soldiers and doctors.
It was a carefree and slightly cheesey Italy but it reflected one of the many faces of this country.
Good rest, Pierino.
