President Saloon (1265 RA)-

Brief History:-

The largest Saidpur Railway Factory in Bangladesh is the holder and bearer of history and tradition. Inside the factory, there is the President Saloon built in England during the British era, i.e. in 1927 AD, with the identification number 1265 RA (Reserve for Administration). Various high-ranking officials including the Queen of Britain have traveled to different parts of India on this. Many memories. The place of this intricate President Saloon is the Saidpur Railway Factory Museum.

This luxurious saloon is made entirely of wood. Inside this fully air-conditioned President Saloon, there is the President's bedroom, two separate rooms for attendants, a separate room for the kitchen and the maids. There is also a luxurious bathroom with high commode, foundation wash basin, bathtub, shower, etc. There is also a conference room for meetings. Although the general coach has 8 covers, the saloon has 12 wheels. Its furniture, electrical fittings, interior decoration all have the impression of royalty and nobility. This 1265 RA saloon was brought to India during the British period.

The saloon was originally brought here for the Queen of Britain to visit various important places in India. After the partition of the country, on June 28, 1948, the then East Pakistan Railway saloon was inherited from the British
government. After the independence of Bangladesh, many heads of state of the country have visited this presidential saloon. Later, in 1984, it became operational. The saloon is an important part of the railway heritage which is very educational for the future generations. Considering these, the Saidpur Railway Factory authorities have decided to install and preserve it in the Saidpur Railway Factory Museum.
