The largest of Bangladesh's numerous railway junction stations is Parbatipur Junction Railway Station. If you search online for the largest railway junction in Bangladesh, you will find that Isswardi is the largest, but the Parbatipur railway junction is currently one of the largest due to the inclusion of a broad gauge railway line to Panchgarah. However, it was not updated on many websites. I am very pleased with this upgrade. I am going to share some information about this railway junction station with you.

Parbatipur Railway Junction Station first opened in 1878 during the British period. I would be happier if I saw the old structure of this railway station. The railway station still has a touch of old British architecture, which is interesting. I am going to share the main railway station's layout. The old railway station is a bit further away from the main railway station, which I did not photograph. My father gave me information about the old railway station where passenger trains used to stop. The old one was significantly smaller than the main station.

I did not receive any specific information regarding the opening of the old and main stations. Maybe the entire station area opened in 1878. Parbatipur Railway Junction station has five platforms. Every railway platform is operational, and passenger trains arrive and depart from each one. Platform no. 1 is the most important platform at the station. Because all of the facilities are connected to platform no.1. Platform one provides easy access to the railway ticket counters, station master's office, high-quality passenger restrooms, railway security, railway mosque, and other essential facilities.

Most intercity trains arrive and depart from platforms 1–3, travelling to major cities such as Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Saidpur, Nilphamari, and Chilahati. The majority of local and mail trains arrive and depart from platforms No. 3-5, heading to the closest major stations, including Rangpur, Dinajpur, Kurigram, Bonarpara, and others. I am sharing the names of the pessenget trains from Parbatipur Railway station.

Some facilities, such as waiting seats, fans and tea stalls are available on each platform. The atmosphere at the end of platform no. 4-5 was appealing to me. I spent a lot of time here with my friends, walking, sitting, and gossiping together. Because platforms 4-5 are not as busy as the other platforms.

The railway station's overbridge has been upgraded. The overbridge has been shaded. People can now cross the overbridge whether it is sunny or raining. It is upsetting to see vulnerable people lying on the bridge.

There is a railway switch cabin office in between the platform no 2 & 3. It is an important railway office. A train is scheduled to arrive at the designated platforms based on the signal from this office. The signal is provided by a manual board with an old operating system. I find the operation of this board to be complex. In the modern age, it appears a bit incompatible to use such outdated technology. I believe that more advanced technology should be used at such important stations.

I also think that the ticket counter is old. It is suggested that the ticket counter at this train station be upgraded by Bangladesh Railway. Train scheduled and ticket fare has been added on the borads in the ticket counters. But the information on the train schedule board is incorrect. The price of the tickets has not been updated. I did not appreciate such poor management at one of the country's busiest railway junctions. I hope that the ticket prices and LED train schedule board will be accessible at this well-known train station. It's time to improve our old railway stations.
