Yesterday, I had dinner with colleagues outside. After the meal, we took a walk near the company.

We walked quite far and passed by an elementary school. Around the school, there were stationery stores, bookshops, and training institutions everywhere.

As we strolled along, we noticed the training institutions showed mixed fortunes. Some were bustling, while others had already closed down.

We passed by a calligraphy and painting training institute. The interior was nicely decorated, and many brush calligraphy works and traditional Chinese paintings by students were posted outside.

However, its door was locked with a big padlock. A notice stated that due to payment issues or poor management, the institute would be temporarily closed for one to two months.

The message was that the owner planned to shut down first for internal adjustments, and whether it would reopen later would be announced.

I guess many students in this institute still had unused class hours. I imagine there will be a lot of back-and-forth between these parents and the institute's owner.

Therefore, parents should be cautious when signing up their children for training outside. Don’t sign up for a one or two-year package just because of a large discount on course fees.

It’s better to sign up quarterly, semi-annually, or monthly. This way, even if the institute closes abruptly, the loss won’t be too big.

Also, when choosing an institute, opt for those on the white list registered with the education authority. It’s advisable to avoid newly established small training institutes that haven’t been filed with the education bureau.

After all, such institutes are unregulated, have a short history, and lack the stability of established ones with ten or twenty years of experience.

I thought the traditional Chinese paintings of peacocks at the door were quite interesting. They were clearly painted by children and looked lovely, so I took photos of them. Meanwhile, I felt sorry for this closed institute.
