Yesterday I received a very sad news, that one of my society lady passed away. The reason of her death was that she fell off from the 31st floor of the building. I could not believe what I was hearing, she was only 62, not very young but not very old either. The reason also felt very unbelievable and we all thought she must have lost balance over the balcony railing and fell. But then her husband opened up to the police saying that she may have committed suicide since she was dealing with depression. I had met her almost a year back at her home. We were not very great friends but cordially we knew each other and had conversations. During that time, I could not figure out she was having depression issues. She looked very fine to me.
Also, she has a very loving family, 2 daughters, a grandchild and her husband is also a very jovial person so it is so hard for me to believe that she had depression issues. But then her neighbors confirmed that she did have major issues and had too much of mood swings. Depression is such a hard thing to detect unless you are very close to the person, living under one roof, then you will know. Otherwise if you are meeting such people once in a while you can never understand that they are having problems.
The family is devastated, it feels so unreal to everyone. She was loved by all, she was very active with children's work and that's how even I connected with her. She must be fighting something terribly in her mind to take such a step. We never know what people are going through in their lives. They may have a fake smile to show to the world and they may be fighting big battles internally. It's easy for people who are in better space mentally to judge them, but what they are going through within, they would only understand. At one point of time I had major suicidal tendencies, due to all the chaos in my life and every moment I felt, I do not wish to live, but because my son was very small then I could not gather the courage to take such a drastic step.
I only wish that such people can get more help and would not end up like this. Life is precious and it's meant to be lived fully with all experiences. When every door seems to be closed suddenly there will be an opening, but a lot of faith is needed for that to believe in the higher power. I advice people to talk about their problems and share it, because that really lightens the mental load. When you do not do that, it keeps getting stored within and eventually some day it will blast in some form.
