A day in the life : Day 256

in notes •  8 days ago

The day started slow, but I didn’t mind. Lately I’ve stopped rushing to “get things done” first thing in the morning. Instead, I took a quiet moment with a glass of warm water, checked a few notifications, and stretched my back a bit before opening the laptop.

Most of my time today went into refining some backend logic for a tool I’ve been building. Nothing flashy, but satisfying work. It's strange how fixing a single small bug can feel like solving a puzzle — a little spark of dopamine for a job well done. I’m trying not to chase productivity too hard, though. Some days, the mind works in deep flow. Other days, it's foggy. Today was somewhere in between.

I skipped lunch and just snacked, which I know isn’t great. But I did make up for it by taking a short evening walk. I’ve noticed how much my mood improves after just 20 minutes outside. No headphones again. Just walking slowly, letting thoughts settle.

There’s still a quiet ache underneath it all — not loneliness exactly, but the feeling that something’s missing. I’m learning to sit with it instead of filling it with noise. There’s peace in the pause.

I didn’t tick off everything on my to-do list. But I did enough. And maybe that’s the real work — showing up, even if quietly.
