AOA (Peace be upon you all),
I'm excited to take part in Week 2 of the Steemit Learning Challenge! For this round of the Community World Tour: Festivals & Celebrations, I’ll be sharing one of the most significant religious festivals celebrated in Pakistan and throughout the Muslim world — Eid-ul-Adha.

About this Festival.
There is one of the most touching and soulful festivals that we have and I would like to tell you about it, Eid-ul-Adha. It is not about rituals only, but it is about faith, family, and the joyfulness one can share with other people. It comes with a feeling of togetherness every year and it teaches us a deep lesson of sacrifice.

This is a celebration dedicated to the devotion of the prophet Ibrahim in the time when he was ready to sacrifice his son as an obedience sign to Allah. But Al-lah sent a ram and now we sacrifice animals and share the meat as well as give to the poor. That is the real spirit; not receiving anything in exchange.
Starting with early morning prayers to being hugged and served with delicious food, with the atmosphere of laughter in every house Eid-ul-Adha embraces like a warm hug of the universe. Children in new clothes, elders talking stories, neighbours passing plates... it is simply a day of heart.
Origins and Meaning
The roots of Eid-ul-Adha go deep into prophetic history, connecting us to a moment of pure devotion and trust. The whole thing started with the history of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) who had a dream that he killed his son and he responded without the second thought of doing it as Allah had ordered him.
At that point, he was going to do so when he was replaced by a ram by Allah. That demonstrated to us what true faith and sacrifice was all about - doing what is right, even in the difficult times. That is formidable, isn`t it?
All Muslims across the world have been honoring that beautiful act of submission as an annual ritual. It is not an issue of animals alone, as it is a case of obedience, love and compassion.

It's Importance
Eid-ul-Adha holds a very special place in our hearts. It’s not just a religious event — it’s a day that teaches us selflessness, gratitude, and unity.
We are told to share, to love and to put love above all. The world can never have enough of that.
Through sacrifice of animals and distributing meat, we are united with our fellow brothers and sisters who lack. It serves as a statement that says, “You are important as well.” This festival is very significant because it brings smiles on the faces of people particularly the poor. It is about sharing happiness with open palms.
And speaking of it, honestly, in modern hectic life, this day gathers the families together. It makes us sit down and take a deep breath - say a prayer together, eat together, and simply just be human together.

How we celebrate Eid-ul-Adha
This is followed by an early bath, new clothes and the entire family is prepared to attend the Eid prayers.
The masjid is filled with people wearing bright colored clothing and smiling and hugging others. It is then that moment which resembles like a breath ofjoy after days of preparation.
It is after the prayer that we go home and start the sacrifice ritual. It can be a goat, cow or a sheep, but it is done with prayers.
The meat is shared to equal share one part serving family, one part to relatives and other part to needy. Giving is so beautiful.
Then there is the best part, food, family and never ending laughter! There are beautiful meals on the table, children are flying everywhere chasing each other and adults are telling cozy stories of old times.

My Personal Connection & Celebration
The festival of Eid-ul-Adha has never been just that, to me it is a crore of emotions, memories, and warmth. I used to get euphoric days before Eid when I was a child. I can recall those days when I was with my father at the animal market- it was some kind of adventure!
We pitch the goat home and I would spend time feeding it and naming it. To be quite honest, when it was time to say goodbye after the sacrifice, I never felt quite a bit of a tear, despite me being aware of what it meant.
Eid day would start off in our house full of relatives, food aromas and laughter all the time. The food cooked by my mother? Absolutely unmatched! Kebab and curry smell lingers in my memory.
I also enjoyed wearing new clothes, posing with the cousins, and exchange of meat with neighbours. I kept that spirit of giving and bonding.
Eid is like opening the door to home to me even today--home of **faith, of love, and of everlasting memories.
One thing reverberates throughout our family as we joyfully and generously celebrate Eid-ul-Adha: kindness speaks louder than words. The thrill increases when you share a meal or smile at a complete stranger. Let's all make an effort to TYPE LESS SMILE MORE this Eid and see the difference.
