Who do Executives Blame for Cybersecurity Failures?

My rant in response to the former CEO of SolarWinds pointing the finger of blame at an intern in an attempt to redirect cybersecurity responsibility, highlights a lack of understanding and accountability within the c-suite.

How does a CEO blame an intern for such a major loss? That is crazy

I think the greatest risk in cybersecurity are the uneducated employees, who will click on phishing links or turn of security features for more convenience. But you cannot blame them if you havent made them aware of the risks that theses actions take with them.

Untrained employees are a huge risk! Totally agree. They have a place in the Threat Agent Taxonomy. It is up to the senior leadership to establish proper training and oversight to mitigate these risks.
