Hi guys.
So recently I was trying to give out explanation about how utopian.io works and along the way it became a little confusing as discussion was going on as well, so I decided to make a little post about it, in my own way as simple as possible and I hope you guys understand it, this way I can share this post over and over again without having to type the same twice and all questions can be asked from the comment box below so have fun while reading it.
Although the above have probably been discussed by plenty others, but then it won’t hunt if I chip in a little as I have found so far upon my usage.
So utopian.io is an open source project that pays contributions by upvoting quality content when posted in its page.
It is made up of many moderators that helps to ensure that only quality content is posted into the site and various contributions one can pick from, ranging from bug hunting to graphic designing on open source project, so everyone can contribute into this platform. Over its arrival, many noticeable persons have delegated huge amounts of steem power to ensure that this platform continues its wonderful work.
From the image below, is a picture showing the look of the interface upon creating an account with them, since it pays contributions by upvoting quality, it uses a super bot charged with about 3mil+ steempower and in other for one to sign up you have to use your posting key from steemit.com, which can be found on your steemit user settings.
So you click on wallet, it will take you to were all your redeemed steem/sbd is located. Click on permissions, under this page, your passwords/keys are shown to you. Like I said earlier it uses your posting key to setup your account. Click on Show private keys and copy the keys.
Go to utopian.io from the image below, that’s what it looks like when you are yet to setup an account. So in other to create your account, you click on login. The next page you will be asked to put in your steemit.com username and posting key, but if you are the type that normally uses the remember password on whatever browser you logged in with, the number 2 image below will be shown to you.
Just click continue and your account has been setup.
Now you have successfully created an accounted, it’s time to contribute. From the image below it shows the list of all contribution presently around in which anyone can write about its contribution, for better clarity let me quickly give you a brief description on what each of the contribution is expected from you.
This way, your work is been approved by the utopian.io moderator and it is later upvoted if it meets standard. Like I said earlier only quality content is considered to be upvoted, so your work can be accepted and little or no vote is given to you, you just have to try harder next time when making a contribution.
First on our list is Ideas and future
Let’s say you have an idea about the next big thing that would change the cryptocurrency world, or a new feature you wish the see the developer implement on utopian.io or steemit.com even zappl and busy. All you have to do, is make a write-up on the contribution page, click ideas/feature and write about it, with understandable information and clear detailed pictures/graph if any stating the browser you used or software this feature would work best on. Just try to be as creative as possible and remember not copy what others have already posted, if for any reason you copied a little from their work please do well to reference the original writer.
Development.
This is more or less programmers field and am not one lol so I would just skip these but if you one, you can go through utopian.io and see what is expected of you from this aspect.
Bug Hunting
So this is one of the most commonest contributions people write about these days, reason it does not require one having an advance knowledge on computer, all it requires is for you to observe and report as you see fit and if there is a solve you can provide it, also you are expected to state the project you found this bug on, the browser you were using, clearly detailed picture about how the bug operate and try to make your write-up easily understandable as possible.
Translation
You would like to translate a post into your language so as to help readers from your part of the world understand what that post is about, then this is just the right place for you, as translators are currently needed a lot, some persons are not that fluent with English Language and find it hard to understand certain aspect of it, so with this you will be able to break it down to is atomic state in other for the information to be easily passed across.
Graphic
How you an artist, a web background designer, come show the world your work and get paid as well for it, your contribution is highly valued and it would be of great help if you were to illustrate the procedures you took to achieve this amazing content, and your original work should be uploaded as well.
Documentation
You good with documenting events, numbers as well come in and show what you have.
Analysis
You are able to provide analysis, observation about a particular project over time, your contribution is highly needed as well, as with your analysis others might be able to predict what next step to take and you never know, you might just be the one to bring about a great change through your provided analysis.
Visibility
This as to do with you writing about all what you have seen, how things work, the do and don’ts of a particular project, what is expected of a user, to cut in short the above you have been reading fall under this criteria and I hope you get better understanding of it.
So to make your contribution, after you must read the above and understand what is needed from you. You click on contribution and a new page is open to you.
As you can see the first page is the contribution you want to write about, and the rules been shown below. So you click on I understand and proceed.
The next page brings about the write up section and the github resporitory, for better understanding I would say you click on this link made by @elear click here to get better understanding of this aspect.
Since you already used to making post on steemit, you just have to follow the same steps here, as markdown is still supported here as well.
Now after making your post, it need to be approved by moderators, this is set up to ensure that only quality content goes into utopian.io and no mistake is done as well, if any mistake is encountered while making your post, you will surely be corrected about it and you can as well discuss with other users here.
Just Click Me and it will take you to utopian.io group on discord.
Upon making a post on utopian.io, it shows on your steemit account even if it is yet to be approved and after it as been approved it becomes visible on your utopian account as well, so thanks for reading and I hope you dropped any problem via the comment box you must have experienced while making a post or setting up your account and I would reply to you soonest as possible.
I hope you have a fun and great time here on utopian.io
God Bless.

Hi, your contribution can't be approved. We have already accepted a similar post. See the Utopian rules.
Your post doesn't fit the visibility category. It is a documentation category with the intro that you shared it with somebody else. With the change in the category, I can't approve this post since we have accepted similar ones. You also use wrong tags.
You can contact us on Discord.

Thanks for your post, unfortunately my upvotes are worth nothing currently as my meter is low otherwise I would have upvoted as you’ve made utopian easier to understand. Can you tell me how to deauthorise utopian from being able to use my posting key. I had a bad experience with another site that I gave my posting key to and I ended up with only 13% on my upvote meter. Cheers
